Logistics Manager

Responsibilities:Manage the site compound and all designated storage areas to maximise efficiency and safety.Oversee the booking and coordination of material deliveries to and from the site.Coordinate closely with subcontractors to ensure clear understanding of delivery schedules, storage locations, and access routes from off-site facilities to the project site.Maintain strong organisational control of site deliveries to ensure materials arrive in a structured and orderly manner.Attend pre-start meetings with subcontractors to communicate site logistics procedures, storage limitations, and delivery booking requirements via the Datascope system.Manage and monitor traffic movement across the site, ensuring safe and efficient flow of vehicles and deliveries.Promote a “just-in-time” delivery approach with all subcontractors to reduce congestion and optimise site operations.Ensure all loading and unloading activities are carried out within the designated compound to prevent disruption or blockage of site roads.Lead and supervise logistics operatives, ensuring adherence to site safety standards, work ethics, and project requirements.Maintain accurate records of labour allocation, delivery tracking, and work progress reports.Requirements3rd level qualification in an engineering or construction-related discipline is desirable; however, a strong trades background with 3+ years’ experience in a similar role will also be considered.Ideally, 2+ years’ experience in a logistics or materials management role on large-scale construction projects.Strong, proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams of operatives and subcontractors.In-depth practical knowledge of load management, storage allocation, subcontractor coordination, and on-site materials handling.Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and execute tasks efficiently.Experience with Datascope or similar logistics and delivery management systems is advantageous.A strong commitment to maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards on site.
