DescriptionThe purpose of this position is to assist with needs for the Human Resources Department where necessary. The position will assist Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) with personnel files, unemployment requests, and open records requests. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. Assists with the administrative functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, while consistently demonstrating a high level of customer service to external and internal partners. Ensures that strict confidentiality is kept in all matters relating to protected employee information and employment-related issuesProcesses unemployment mail, claims, audits, and billing. Communicates with Metro Departments and County Attorney regarding unemployment claims and appeals. Acts as main point of contact for employee personnel file review requests, including current and former employees, as well as outside agencies. Ensures confidentiality is maintained with all file reviews.
Assists with maintaining employee personnel files, including filing, and acting as a point of contact for the Archives department when requesting former employee personnel files. Processes open records requests by gathering and uploading requested information to the open records portal. Responds to and processes all enterprise-wide unemployment claims. Assists with responding to Open Records Request by researching information, gathering evidence, and redacting personal data. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum RequirementsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Education, Social Science, Business, or Public Administration or related discipline.
One (1) year of human resources specialist experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Other Minimum RequirementsNone. Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
