This work technical service, technical proposals related to selling catalyst, supporting major process designs or doing minor process designs for revamps, and startup support. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical ServiceInterpret operating data to monitor catalyst performance, recommend operating guidelines, and estimate remaining catalyst life. Plan and lead in-plant shutdown and startup assistance, including catalyst loading, regeneration, and sulfiding consultation. Administer plant performance test runs as required.
Answer clientsâ operating questions to stay close to the customer and win future catalyst business. Level of support is dependent on the marketing strategy for each customer. Includes process equipment troubleshooting. Will include site visits and/or periodic operating data reportsParticipate in conceptual design studies in support of licensed unit re-vamps or debottlenecks. Process DesignsBe able to understand process design packages and the process design work for engineering design packages (EDP) for a hydroprocessing UnitRun ProVision models to simulate the process. Generate heat and material balances and stream data.
Be able to do new designs and/or ratings of major pieces of equipment such as heat exchangers, vessels, distillation columns, etc. Provide follow-up work as needed so the EDP can be completed within schedule. Coordinate with the Materials and Reactor Design supportGenerate Process and Analytical ManualsAnswer clientsâ questions as part of design follow-up supportNew Plant Startup SupportPlan and lead new plant startup assistance, including equipment process inspections, and supervision of (a) catalyst loading, (b) sulfiding, (c) start-up, and (d) plant performance test runs.
Document each phase of the startup, and work with the customer to manage their needs and expectations. TrainingProvide hydrocracking and isomerization/dewaxing training to (new) CLG technical service engineers or third partiesSkills, Knowledge & ExpertiseMust have a degree in Chemical Engineering and 10+ years of experience in process technology. Must have basic knowledge of process design tools such as PROVISION (or similar process simulator), heat exchanger design tools, etc. Ability to design a variety of unit operations such as heat exchangers, vessels, distillation columns, etc. is a plus. Extensive experience in hydroprocessing design, operations, kinetics, and data analysis is essential.
Thorough understanding of how equipment functions in the field and overall plant operation is required. Knowledge of hydroprocessing-specific equipment a plus. Ability to communicate with clients to effectively sell our technology and represent CVX in a positive light to outside companies. Ability to communicate well with teammates and managers during project and tech service work required. Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and manage multiple work activities to meet customer needs and expectations required. Must possess ability to manage a team and delegate work out to team.
