Job Description

(Local Candidates Only)Our client, a rapidly growing and award-winning family law firm serving clients throughout the Greater Houston area, is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee all aspects of the firm’s administrative and business operations. This executive leader will work closely with the firm owner to execute strategy, drive profitability, and ensure operational excellence across all departments. Only candidates currently residing in the Houston or Greater Houston area will be considered. Key Responsibilities:

Lead and implement firm-wide operational strategies aligned with business objectivesOversee non-legal staff, vendor relationships, HR operations, and financial performanceDrive accountability through KPIs and data analysis to support firm growthManage the firm’s budget ($10M+), systems, and infrastructure to ensure efficiencySupport a fully remote team with strong digital and risk management systemsMaintain written documentation of all firm policies and proceduresLead recruiting, onboarding, training, and team development initiativesCoach and mentor team members to support growth, engagement, and performanceFacilitate conflict resolution and support a collaborative, solutions-focused cultureLead change management initiatives that support scaling and process improvementFoster a positive, high-performing firm culture and ensure compliance with HR lawsQualifications:

Proven experience as a COO, VP of Operations, or Professional Legal Administrator (PLA) in a professional services firmStrong background in business operations, HR, finance, and strategic planningExperience managing teams of 35+ with full hiring and termination authorityDemonstrated responsibility for an annual operating budget of $10M+Skilled in coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, performance management, and team dynamicsExperience leading change management efforts during periods of growth or transformationTrack record of executing business plans and improving profitabilityBachelor’s degree required; MBA preferredSHRM or HRCI certifications are a plusLaw firm experience is preferred but not requiredCompensation:
