Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Mechanic)Location: Merrillville, INJob Type: Direct HireRequired Travel: 50% Travel Required"Must have 24/7 availability for emergencies and be able to travel out of town and state."Responsibilities:Repair and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, and other motorized equipmentFollow daily briefings with the Shop Foreman to carry out work assignmentsMinimize downtime by ensuring efficient access to parts and toolsComplete work orders timely and accurately, documenting mileage, hours, and repair detailsRoute emergency repair requests to the Shop Foreman to maintain priority assignmentsAdhere to all safety rules and regulationsMaintain tools and equipment in an orderly fashionParticipate in team-based work assignments to ensure timely repairsOther duties as assignedRequired Skills and Experience:Minimum of five years of maintenance experience with heavy equipment and/or trailers/cranesAt least five years in two additional technical areas (e.g., hydraulics, electronics, small engines)High School Diploma/GED with trade school or equivalent training in diesel mechanical repairStrong drive for results and ability to convey urgencyAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesStrong communication and organizational skillsProficient computer skillsMust be able to read, write, and speak EnglishPhysical Demands:Constant bending, twisting, stooping, walking, and liftingAbility to work in various weather conditions and extended hoursRegular lifting of up to 50 pounds; assistance required for items over 75 poundsRequired Certifications and Licenses:Valid Driver’s License with a good driving recordTwo years of technical/vocational school training and five years of hands-on repair experienceProfessional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repairRequired Travel:Must be available 24/7 for emergencies and able to travel out of town and out of stateSubject to a pre-employment drug test and/or background check.
