Job OverviewAs a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, functionality, and overall health of either our in-store aquariums or those of paying customers from the Project & Maintenance department. Your expertise in aquarium maintenance and strong attention to detail will play a vital role in creating a visually appealing and thriving aquatic environment for our customers and our aquatic inhabitants. This role also requires a high level of animal welfare, and time management skills to be effective. The position will either require rotating between all stores within our network, or visiting multiple paying customer’s homes/businesses based on a set schedule.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure all TPS & external client’s aquariums are maintained at the highest standardsFollow a thorough cleaning protocol, including performing water changes, algae cleaning, debris removal, sump & filter cleaning etc.Make sure all equipment is in complete working order (e.g heaters, filters, lights), and make recommendations on improvements/replacements for the tankComplete regular and accurate water quality tests, and identify if they are out of the ideal rangeProvide a completed checklist for all tasks conductedMonitor and assess livestock health both in house and externally, and reporting any signs of sickness/ abnormalities to both the line supervisor and the Quarantine Specialist for assistanceAid the sales of store products wherever possible to both new and existing customersProduce weekly sales reports and updates to the Aquatics Manager on the progress of the P&M division.Knowledge of aquarium systems & equipment, and their featuresUnderstanding of aquarium water quality, what the ideal parameters for a healthy aquarium are as well as the methods to improve poor water qualityHave the knowledge of how to service/ replace aquarium equipment, as well understanding on how to conduct proper inspections of equipment, ensuring proper functionalityAct as the designated driver, ensuring safe, timely, and professional transport to customer locations. Maintain punctuality for all appointments, adhere strictly to traffic and road safety regulations, and represent the company courteously while on the road. Key RequirementsHigh School diploma or the equivalentA bachelors degree is desirable Full, Clean Manual driver’s license 2 years’ experience in aquarium maintenance and fish care in preferable BenefitsPet-friendly workplace.
