The Manager Organisational Safety Unit (OSU) reports to the Director Organisational Safety within the Office of Industrial Relations Corporate Services directorate and is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of the OIR’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Strategy. In this role you will lead a small team and will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Health Safety and Wellbeing Management System, aligned to ISO45001, with a focus on systems and business improvement activities that consider the hierarchy of control and good work design principles. You will be required to have a solid understanding and experience working with workplace health and safety legislation and the effective management of physical and psychosocial hazards in the workplaceThe Manager Organisational Safety Unit (OSU) reports to the Director Organisational Safety within the Office of Industrial Relations Corporate Services directorate. In this role you will lead the strategic development and implementation of the OIR's Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Strategy that aims to create a supportive, safe and healthy work environment for OIR staff.This role is responsible for managing a small team and has legislative obligations outlined in the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld) to identify and manage physical and psychological risks to health and safety through the implementation of and verification of controls. This role is also required to support effective consultation in line with legislative requirements and the development of information, training and resources to build the capability and capacity of the OIR workforce.In this role you will be responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Health Safety and Wellbeing Management System, aligned to ISO45001, with a focus on systems and business improvement activities that consider the hierarchy of control and work design principles that includes the work, the worker and the work environment. You will be required to have a solid understanding and experience working with workplace health and safety legislation and the effective management of physical and psychosocial hazards in the workplace.In this role you may be exposed to, and/or respond to reported incidents where OIR staff have been exposed to, confronting and distressing content. OIR will support you with relevant professional supervision and access to our employee assistance program services to monitor vicarious trauma.
