Job DescriptionManager Business Support & Office of the DDGRole type: Permanent, full-timeLocation: WellingtonSalary band & range: General Salary Range B: $138,938 to $170,000 depending on skills and experienceAbout the Role - Kōrero mō te TūrangaAs Manager Business Support & Office of the Deputy Director General (ODDG), you'll lead a team that delivers essential business support services across Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service. You will ensure the business unit operates smoothly and efficiently, enabling it to deliver on its strategic goals and work programme.This is a leadership role that spans business support, health and safety, and executive support. You'll work closely with teams across Te Uru Rākau to provide assurance, guidance, and consistent support on processes that support the branch operation, while fostering a collaborative and customer-focused environment.In this role, you will:Lead and manage the Business Support & ODDG team, taking strong leadership of a team that enables and support the branch in delivering to its strategy.Oversee administrative and logistical support across Te Uru Rākau to enable core service delivery.Manage relationships with MPI enabling services and other branches to ensure seamless operational support, and TUR-NZFS works within MPI's machinery of government systems.Provide oversight of health, safety, and wellbeing systems and governance within the branch.Lead the Office of the Deputy Director-General team to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of legislative and contractual obligations.Advise on MPI corporate policies and ensure compliance across the business unit.About You – MōuTo be successful in this role, you'll have significant leadership experience in business support functions, with a very strong customer and service focus.You'll have proven experience managing relationships across a range of stakeholders both internally and externally, with the ability to influence and gain the support of key individuals. You will be experienced in advising and supporting senior leaders, while also able to support operational staff in navigating the approval and support processes to conduct activity.More specifically, your experience will include:Knowledge of relevant legislative, legal and Government policy and practices, and machinery of government.Experience working in government agencies or large complex environments managing or enabling high profile programmes of work.Proven skills in people leadership, management, development, performance management, succession planning, and building a support team.Proven ability to effect change and deal with ambiguity.Proven negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills.Proven communications, presentation skills.Management skills, including experience in leading work and achieving effective outcomes in situations where there are diverse interests.An understanding of the Health and Safety responsibilities of senior leaders towards their staff.About the Team - Mō tō mātou RōpūThe Business Support and ODDG team plays a vital role in enabling Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service to deliver on its strategic priorities.
