Job Location: Hershey, PA (Technical Center)Manager Environmental Health and Safety – Innovation Centers(Technical Center, Semi-Works, Annville Fulfillment Center)Summary:The EHS Manager for Innovation Centers leads Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives across the Technical Center, Semi-Works Facility, and Annville Fulfillment Center. This role is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive EHS programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement. The EHS Manager collaborates with various teams – including production, pilot plant, laboratory, R&D, maintenance, and engineering – to proactively manage risks in research and high-tech environments. The position also fosters strong cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization and may supervise salaried, hourly, and consultant staff to achieve measurable improvements in safety and environmental performance.Key Responsibilities:Analyze and mitigate emerging risks in research and high-tech environmentsWork with cross-functional teams at all sites to achieve EHS objectivesProvide leadership and direction in developing, administering, and maintaining EHS compliance programs and management systemsImplement and maintain site standards and policies, based on Global EHS standardsImplement site-specific Ergonomic and Industrial Hygiene Program elements based on Global EHS guidelinesDevelop and implement audits, inspections, recordkeeping, and data collection systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and Global EHS standardsServe as liaison with external regulatory agencies, with support from Global EHSManage all applicable environmental permits and permit renewalsCoordinate and follow-up on EHS audits to ensure satisfactory complianceAssist management with investigations, provide corrective or preventive measures recommendations, and maintain accurate environmental and injury/illness records Maintain current working knowledge of EHS regulations and laws to provide expertise for EHS assessments, capital projects, and general EHS-related problem-solving Manage salary, hourly, and contract personnel to perform daily functionsEnsure compliance with the site Security ProgramsCoordinate with Corporate Health Services on required health & wellness activities and injury managementMaintain a working knowledge of Worker’s Compensation requirementsAssist Global EHS Team, as needed, in EHS Framework and Process Safety Management AssessmentsMinimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform major duties/responsibilities successfully:Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and standardsAbility to develop and implement environmental and safety policies, programs, and trainingStrong analytical skills to evaluate performance metrics and outcomesSuperior communication skills – verbal and writtenAbility to work with cross-functional teams to achieve desired outcomes Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to develop multiple solutions to an issue and make valid recommendations for resolutionAbility to understand and execute processes, including recognizing customer needs, communicating process changes, measuring, and assessing success, and identifying areas of improvementAbility to work under pressureProven history in leadershipSkill in budget preparation and managementExperience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP computer applicationsKnowledge of manufacturing practices and processesKnowledge of R&D and laboratory practices and processesAbility to adjust work hours as neededAble to climb ladders and stairs and lift moderately heavy items such as test equipment or materialsDemonstrated ability to move between tasks and projects on short notice and quickly change priorities based on customer and department needs while meeting project deadlines (Flexibility is critical in this role as priorities change quickly)Able to work well in a team environment or independentlyMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree requiredA bachelor’s degree in occupational / industrial safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or another EHS-related field is preferred; other four-year degrees will be consideredCertification in an EHS-related discipline and/or education beyond a bachelor’s degree is preferredMinimum of 5 years of experience in research and development / pilot plant operations and/or manufacturing environment related to EHS program management
