Our operations span North America with over 29,000 employees at close to 1,660 locations in 45 US States and 2 Canadian provinces.Position OverviewThe global diversified CRH Americas is currently recruiting for the position of Manager within the Financial Risks, Controls and Compliance team based in Atlanta, GA. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting financial risk mitigation, SOX compliance, supporting an effective internal control framework over financial reporting and company assets as well as adherence to company policies and procedures.This includes but is not limited to:Successfully supporting the annual SOX compliance processes for the AmericasWorking collaboratively with various entities within the Americas to ensure a robust control environmentProactively driving process improvements to increase risk mitigation and/or promote efficienciesSupporting the strategic initiatives, growth and development of the business (e.g., ERP transitions, acquisition and divestment activities, system implementations, etc.)Modernizing the approach to SOX compliance to be a value add with a focus on risk and control of overall financial reporting processesThe position offers the right candidate an excellent opportunity for leadership development, driving change in a fast paced, commercial environment with unrivalled exposure to senior management and businesses throughout the Americas.Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)The key responsibilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Risk Management, Internal Control and SOX ComplianceAssist with the identification of emerging risks and promotion of appropriate control mitigationEnsure that a practical, risk focused approach is taken to resolving any issues that ariseSuccessfully support the annual SOX compliance process ensuring all components and dependencies are managed on a timely basis to meet all deadlinesPro-actively support operating companies and divisions with compliance requirementsPro-actively support and drive the business in maintaining effective internal controlsCollaboratively manage the relationships with Internal and External Auditors seeking efficient, effective and accurate audit coordination and resultsStakeholder management, communication and influencing skillsEnsure clear, timely and efficient communication channels exist to provide status updates, identify, and resolve issues and report on any other matters as neededBuild relationships with key internal stakeholders and promote the function as a trusted partnerChange and transformationIdentify opportunities to make the SOX compliance process more effective and efficient through data analytics and continuous monitoringApply knowledge of risk and controls best practices to promote transformational activitiesDrive the SOX compliance function to move beyond SOX compliance by adding value across the end-to-end financial reporting controls processEngage with relevant external stakeholders to align and optimize work practicesSupport the smooth on-boarding of newly acquired entities to ensure compliance with CRH Internal Control principles and SOX compliancePeople / Overall ManagementCreate a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectivesManage the day-to-day functions to ensure it operates with sufficient / appropriate resources (people, technologies, advisors etc.) and within budgetQualificationsEducation/ExperienceCPA, CIA or equivalent qualification and other relevant financial risk and controls experience5+ years of experienceRelevant SOX, risk, and controls experience, preferably in an SEC registrant environmentKnowledge and experience of growing areas or emerging risks including ITPrevious managerial level experience with focus on change and transformation; at least 2 yrsSAP implementation and/or advanced user requiredWork RequirementsMust have expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookMust be 18 years old or olderMust pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background checkStrict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee HandbookWillingness to work independently within a team environment and assist with other duties as requiredModerate travel requiredKnowledge/Skill RequirementsKey AttributesDemonstrated track record of progressive leadership and management skillsStrong financial, risk, IT and data compilation and analytical skillsExcellent communication including strong verbal and written capabilitiesSelf-motivated, highly enthusiastic and ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, and commercial environmentAbility to lead and drive change while bringing all key stakeholders on the journeyEnjoys building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectivesCompetencies and BehaviorsCollaborates: building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectivesCultivates innovation: Creating new and better ways for the organization to be successfulDrives engagement: Creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Able to communicate with others by telephone and in personAble to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentationsMay require sitting for extended periods of timeWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Typical normal, quiet office working conditionsThe position may require work outside of normal business hoursThe statements included in this job description are not intended to be all-inclusive.
