The Manager oversees the City’s digital presence, brand standards, and marketing initiatives to ensure consistent, high-quality, and accessible communications across all channels.The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor, skilled storyteller, and creative leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and implement corporate-wide communications and marketing strategies that align with City goals and prioritiesProvide strategic communications advice and support to City leadership, Council, and departmentsLead media relations efforts: prepare key messages, manage inquiries, monitor coverage, and build strong relationships with local and regional mediaOversee the City’s brand management, ensuring consistent application across print, digital, video, and public-facing materialsManage the City’s website, social media channels, and digital communications, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards (AODA)Develop and coordinate communication tools such as What’s On Woodstock magazine, media releases, the City Services Calendar, and the Recreation & Leisure GuideAct as the City’s Emergency Information Officer, coordinating communications in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection ActProvide leadership and guidance to the communications and marketing teamManage the communications and marketing budget, including identifying advertising revenue opportunitiesPrepare speeches, talking points, and media materials for Council and senior staffQualifications:Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Media Production, or a related disciplineMinimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, preferably in a municipal or public-sector environmentExceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling and accessible content for diverse audiencesStrong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated experience advising senior leaders and managing staffProficiency in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent)Experience managing social media platforms and digital marketing campaignsProven ability to handle sensitive and high-profile communications with tact, professionalism, and political acumenWorking Conditions:Regular office conditionsMay require working outside of regular business hours to attend Council meetings, monitor social media on evenings and weekends, and address issues when requiredThe City of Woodstock is committed to diversity and inclusivity in employment and welcomes applications from qualified individuals of diverse backgrounds.
