Manager, Reinsurance

ResponsibilitiesAssist HOD in managing the activities of the Reinsurance Department in line with Company's Policies and Business Plans.Assist HOD to review and implement the Company's Reinsurance Programme.Attend to risks requiring reinsurance by effecting treaty cessions and/or outward facultative placements in accordance with guidelines laid down under the Company's Risk Management policy and Reinsurance programme.Maximise retention of risks to increase Net Written Premium as a percentage of Gross Written Premium through sound assessment of the risks, underwriting information and risk survey reports.Handle all matters relating to Reinsurance Facultative Outwards Business and Facultative inwards business. Ensure Reinsurance documentation is handled properly.Assist in the compilation of yearly treaty renewal information and requests.Assist HOD in continual Process Health Checks. Compliance with ICP procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in work processes within the Reinsurance Department.Provide a technical reference point for queries from Business Units, Claims, Finance and Reinsurers. Assist in training of less experienced staff.Ensure compliance with all laws, regulatory provisions and Group policies as are relevant to the roleMonitor reinsurers' rating status and exposures.Undertake any other duties as may be assigned.QualificationsMinimum tertiary education with minimum professional insurance qualification in ANZIIF or equivalentOther InformationOperations experience in general insurance environmentFacultative Outward placement experienceTechnical reinsurance supportSound knowledge in underwriting, reinsurance and risk managementRelationship management with reinsurersGood communications skillsOther working arrangements offered : On-site
