Manager/Unit Head Export & Guarantees - International

UBL is looking to hire incumbents in it's International Operations division as Manager/Unit Head - Exports and Guarantees to manage and oversee the bank’s export and guarantee operations in compliance with international trade regulations, UCP/URDG guidelines, and internal policies. The role ensures timely and accurate processing of export bills, letters of credit, FI Transactions and bank guarantees while maintaining service quality, risk control, and adherence to regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesHandle end-to-end processing of export documents under letters of credit and on collection basis.Liaise with correspondent banks, and internal departments to resolve issues (if any) related to processing of transactions.Monitor timely realization of export proceeds and maintain accurate records.Supervise issuance, amendment, and cancellation of guarantees in accordance with guidelines of the bank.Ensure guarantees are processed within agreed turnaround times while mitigating operational and compliance risks.Maintain records of outstanding guarantees and monitor expiry dates in coordination with relevant teams in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain.Ensure adherence to regulations promulgated by Central Banks of UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, ICC guidelines, AML/KYC requirements, and internal controls.Review transactions for sanction screening and report any suspicious activities as per policy.Provide professional guidance to clients regarding export documentation and guarantees.Coordinate with relevant teams in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain teams for smooth transaction execution.Handle client queries promptly while maintaining service excellence.Monitor daily/weekly/monthly MIS on export bills, guarantees, and pending cases.Support management in analysis and decision-making through accurate reporting.Qualifications & ExperienceMaster’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in trade finance/export and guarantees in a bank.Certification in trade finance will be a plus. Key Skills & CompetenciesThorough understanding of ICC Publications, export documentation and guarantees. Strong knowledge of international trade finance practices.Analytical mind-set with strong problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple transactions under strict deadlines.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Proficiency in banking systems and MS Office applications.The position is based in Karachi, Pakistan.
