As we continue to grow as a company and work with more client, we’re on the lookout for individuals to join our team to support the Indianapolis, IN service location.Job Summary:Manual Machinist 2 is responsible for fabrication, repair and remanufacturing of parts, tools and components of the industrial centrifuge products serviced by the company. This position utilizes industrial machine equipment such as lathes, milling machines, presses and grinders to produce and repair precise and high-quality components for the shop, service and parts teams. Be grittyProcesses and tools that assist the team by providing the guidance and information needed to positively impact the businessDoing everything the “right way” by adhering to our core values of Customer Service, Continuous Improvement, Mutual Respect, Integrity, and TrustJob Responsibilities:Always keep safety of self and others as the highest priorityMeasure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specificationsCalculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipersAlign and secure fixtures, cutting tools, accessories and materials onto the machinesMachine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill press, or grindersStudy sample parts, blueprints, and engineering information to determine best methods and sequence of operationsConsult with other members of the shop team and management on best ways to fabricate, repair or modify componentsAct as a consultant to the engineering team on manufacturing methodology related to the design and fabrication of parts and componentsExamine parts for defects and repair where possibleLayout, measure and mark metal stock to proper lengths and tolerancesDesign fixtures, tooling and procedures to fabricate, modify or repair componentsPerform general maintenance on the equipment including lubricating, cleaning, and replacing consumable componentsListen to and observe equipment for signs of machine malfunction and to determine if maintenance is neededExchange technical information both verbally and in writing with various members of the organization including engineering, customer service, sales and managementSupport continuous improvement efforts by evaluating procedures, recommending changes or modifications for improved efficiency and participating in lesson learned activitiesTrack time working on job orders by logging onto job in Shop Floor ManagerMaintain a clean, organized and safe work environmentSafely operate cranes, forklift and other industrial equipmentSupport, mentor and train Manual Machinist 1’s and other shop personnel on the methods and procedures to fabricate, repair and modify componentsRepresent Separators in alignment with the Separators WayOther duties as assignedAlways represent Separators Inc. in a professional and courteous mannerRequirements & Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred3 to 5 years of previous work experience as a manual machinistKnowledge of metal properties and other materialOutstanding mathematical skills necessary to perform the arithmetic functions such as add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure necessary to calculate dimensions and tolerancesStrong mechanical aptitudeAbility to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurementsDemonstrated time management and prioritization skills with multitasking abilityThorough understanding of specifications, blueprints, manuals and mechanical drawingsGreat verbal and written communication skillsUtilize complex problem-solving techniques and critical thinking in support of assignmentsSelf-Starter, Ability to work independently under general supervisionAbility to perform tasks that require manual dexterity and physical endurance, such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and for extended periods.
