Manufacturing Design Engineers develop manufacturing processes for mechanical components for all Reality Labs products at Meta. We are looking for individuals who desire to be on the ground floor of a breakthrough technology and help develop advanced processes within our supply chain partners. This MDE will work closely with Hardware Engineering, Technical Program Management, Finance and Strategic Sourcing during the product development cycle from prototype to mass production to ensure successful product launch. The person will lead secondary, mechanical processes to realize design intent while optimizing quality versus cost, driving sustainability and championing continuous improvement throughout the lifecycle of products.Manufacturing Design Engineer - Mechanical Responsibilities:Work with design teams to understand design intent, provide input and suggestions accounting for manufacturability and required processesProvide thorough Design for Manufacturability assessments to anticipate issues, manage risks and influence designs at the early stagesWork with Strategic Sourcing Managers to establish an optimal supply chain to manufacture Meta's productsDevelop industry leading processes to meet Meta's design, cost and quality requirementsWork closely with suppliers to develop processes, troubleshoot issues, document and control critical parameters and scale production to meet all of Meta's requirementsDesign experiments, lead studies to collect the necessary data needed to drive decisions related to design, process, cost and supplier selectionRequire frequent travel to supplier sitesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent practical experience7+ years of manufacturing or process development experienceExperience with 1 or more of the following process areas: assembly, lamination, automation, CNC machining, blasting, polishing, laser processing, 3D printing, plastic injection molding, stamping, forging, softgoods and related manufacturing processesPreferred Qualifications:Experience manufacturing highly cosmetic, consumer electronics partsExtensive experience with assembly including electro-mechanical componentsDemonstrate hands-on experience with detailed failure analysis and troubleshooting skillsExperience working with high-volume consumer electronic productsExperience developing supplier or equipmentAbout Meta:Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
