Marketplace Development Manager (Tokyo, remote)We are supporting a Europe-headquartered, rapidly growing global e-commerce marketplace specializing in curated, expert-vetted auctions of unique collectibles and luxury goods.The core mission is to grow the supply side of the online auction platform in Japan — specifically by bringing new, high-quality sellers onto the platform who offer valuable collectible items.You are the hunter, not the farmer: identifying leads, convincing them to join, onboarding them successfully, and then handing them off to the Account Management team for long-term growth.Responsibilities:Identify, qualify, and develop seller leads within Japan through a variety of methods including calls, emails, field visits, fair visits, and collaboration with local experts.Proactively identify and reactivate high-potential dormant sellers and organic sign-ups to build the Collectables seller network.Onboard new sellers by facilitating a frictionless pre- and post-sales experience, using a data-driven approach and sales tooling for lead qualification.Quickly learn and utilize the important characteristics of various collectible categories in cooperation with in-house experts to close deals.Select, grow, and nurture high-potential new sellers, moving in sync with Account Managers to develop growth plans before transitioning them to Account Management teams.Travel regularly within Japan to meet leads and new sellers to expand commercial opportunities.Requirements: MUST: 4-6 years of professional experience in a similar Business Development, Sales, or Seller Acquisition role.MUST: Fluent in Japanese and with business proficiency (upper-intermediate minimum) in English.MUST: Experience working with international organizations and within a start-up or scale-up environment.Affinity towards collectibles or an artistic perspective (e.g., Luxury Goods, Art, Antiques, Wines, Comics).Demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets and strong negotiation skills.Experience using a sales CRM (Hubspot or equivalent) is a significant plus.Based in Tokyo, JapanThe company offers a great opportunity for professional growth within a fast-paced, international e-commerce marketplace.
