Run what runs the world.This Position Reports ToR&D Team LeadDetailsStart: February 2026 Duration: 20 weeks Location: ABB AlingsåsYour Role And ResponsibilitiesTo further reduce our carbon footprint of distribution cabinets we reassess all material choices, considering both current and anticipated future availability of raw materials. Your mission is to assess whether a new material concept meets the strict requirements of our products. This work is interdisciplinary, positioned at the intersection of materials science, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering.Research topicsTo evaluate a new material concept used in metallic parts of low-voltage cabinets GoalsAssess if the new material concept is technically feasible for the intended applicationApproachThe scope will be tailored to your background to meet the requirements of a degree project.It May IncludeEvaluating the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of new material concepts using experimental and/or numerical methodsActively propose further improvements in materials and/or designAssessing the impact on sustainability and total cost of ownershipYour backgroundYou have a background in materials science, physics, solid mechanics, or electrical engineeringYou are passionate about electrification and sustainability, and you’re eager to learn beyond your current field of studyMore About UsABB is a global technology leader in electrification and automation.
