Zurich, Switzerland | on-site | starting between October 2025 – January 2026We are looking for a hands-on Material Engineer to join our team and actively contribute to the development and integration of advanced materials for our robotic systems. We’re a young and dynamic team, and your role will be broad and impactful – from researching and testing innovative textiles and coatings to developing manufacturing processes for their integration.You’ll work side by side with the founding team to shape our technology, company, and culture. If you’re looking for variety, ownership, and a team where your work makes a difference, this is for you!As an ideal candidate, you will be highly motivated, eager to work on a challenging deep-tech topic with real-world impact, capable of working autonomously and in small teams, and have a strong desire to apply material science to solve novel robotics challenges.ResponsibilitiesLead the research, selection, and characterization of finished textiles, polymers, and coatings.Develop and implement processes for material treatment, coating, and integration into our robotic hardware.Conduct rigorous testing to evaluate material properties such as durability, friction, and environmental resistance.Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to integrate material solutions into the robot design.Work with suppliers to source materials and ensure quality control.Create and manage documentation for material specifications and production processes.Requirements & QualificationsStrong motivation and goal-oriented working attitude.Comfortable working independently and in small teams, and willing to take responsibility.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.Hands-on experience with polymers, composites, textiles, or coatings from lab, curricular or extracurricular projects.Experience with material testing and characterization techniques.Fluent English speaker.Great to haveExperience in an industrial R&D or product development environment.Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to textiles or coatings.Experience in supplier relationships and supply chain operations.Familiarity with CAD software and its application in material integration.An interest in robotics and the interplay between materials and system performance.What we offerDirect collaboration with the founders and the chance to actively shape our product and company.Opportunity to grow into a core role in an early-stage robotics startup.Competitive compensation package.Exposure to real-world deployments and pilot customers.A team culture focused on technical excellence, openness, and shared ownership.Regular joint team activities including team dinners and surprise events.How to applyPlease apply through our online application form and have your cover letter, CV, transcript and/or reference at hand.
