Job Description

MATRIX is looking for an experienced Breakfast Cook at one of our remote camps.

In this position you will report to the First Cook, and ultimately to the Executive Chef in camp. This position will work primarily a night shift schedule. Responsibilities:

Prepare breakfasts and lunchUse seasonal garden produce for mealsPrepare baked goods and desserts from scratchDevelop menus that reflect site preferences and dietary restrictionsMaintain sufficient food inventory for site resident numbersImplement and execute a Food Safety Plan using advanced recording methodsPlace and receive grocery orders, and maintain sufficient food inventory for site resident numbersLiaise with grocers for quality, quantity and back ordersMaintain a well-organized and clean food storage areaEnsure the "first in first out" rotation procedure to support food inventory controlExecute safe food storage and labeling of potential food allergy itemsParticipate in daily toolbox meetingsProvide kitchen facility orientation and ongoing coaching/training to incoming kitchen staffConduct monthly worksite inspections as it relates to the kitchen facilitiesEnsure kitchen staff performs tasks according to safe work practices and safe job proceduresReport any unsafe conditions and/or equipment issues to Resort ManagerReport all incidents and accidents immediatelyEnsure good housekeeping in the work area at all timesMaintain a high performing, team orientated and productive work environmentRequired Knowledge & ExperienceMinimum of three (3) years working in a breakfast or 2nd Cook position in a camp Kitchen Organizational and problem-solving abilitiesStrong interpersonal and communication skillsProficient computer skillsConflict resolution skillsHighly motivated, team-oriented individual with attention to detailPhysical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbsAble to lift and move heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of timeAble to maintain a high level of performance over a 10 - 12 hour shiftPreferred Licensing & Certifications:

Must have a valid and current Food Safe Certificate and WHMIS CertificateAdditional training and/or certification in Culinary arts, or cooking, is an assetPrevious experience working in a camp setting is required. Please note that references and a criminal record check is mandatory for this position. This position works on a general 3 week in / 3 week out rotation (Fully Remote). Preference will be given to local residents and areas in proximity to the local communities of these camps.
