Apply today!The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical and Structural Drafter to join our team full-time, working 5 days a week, based out of our Fort Saskatchewan office. You will prepare comprehensive mechanical drawing packages—including shop spool drawings, isometrics, BOMs, assembly drawings, and layouts—while translating field measurements into precise technical documentation. Collaboration with both construction and engineering teams is essential, as is adherence to client specifications and standards.This role assumes approximately 75% Shop Drafting and 25% Project Coordination responsibilities.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary – negotiable based on experienceBenefits package after 90 days including extended health, dental, vision, travel, and paramedicals (50/50 employer-employee split)LTD, AD&D, life insurance, and dependent life insurance coverageVacation and stat holiday pay totaling 10% of regular wagesCell phone allowance or company provided cell phoneA company provided laptopDuties/ResponsibilitiesDraft structural components using 2D AutoCAD and Tekla UltimateUtilize Spool Fab to create mechanical drawing packages, including shop spool drawings, isometrics, BOMs, assembly drawings, and layoutsTranslate field measurements into accurate technical drawingsPrepare piping isometrics and shop drawings for ABSA-registered pressure piping and CWB-certified structural steelConvert IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings into detailed fabrication drawings, including BOMs, weld maps, spool drawings, and assembly detailsMaintain drawing standards, layer management, and revision control in compliance with ABSA and CWB requirementsSupport shop floor queries, including RFIs, clarifications, and field markupsInterface with project managers, QA/QC, and fabrication foremen to align deliverables and prioritize schedulesTrack drawing progress, ensure timely transmittals, and coordinate drawing approvals with clients or engineering firmsManage document control, including revision logs, ABSA registration documents, and weld procedure referencesSupport material takeoffs and nesting files to optimize plate and pipe usageAssist with quantity takeoffs and estimating as requiredCollaborate closely with the construction and engineering teams on drafting requirementsUnderstand and apply a variety of client specifications and standardsSkills/Education/RequirementsMinimum 5 years’ experience with 2D AutoCAD and Spool FabAbility to configure AutoCAD to meet diverse client standardsProficient in using various measurement toolsProficient in Google platforms, bluebeam and professional writingAble to work both independently and as part of a teamGraduate of Mechanical Engineering program or Construction Technology program with related work experience ORQualified tradesperson in mechanical field with several years' experience, and previous estimating / drafting experienceStrong computer skills, including experience with Google Suite Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with team members is importantMust have reliable transportation to and from work in Fort SaskatchewanMust be eligible to work in CanadaAssets/Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of CWB welded joints and symbolsKnowledge of NDE, line classifications and symbolsAbility to update electrical redline drawingsFab shop experience considered an assetWelding process experience considered an assetOCL Group Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.Powered by JazzHR1Z3CEfh8tY
