The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and optimising mechanical/structural components and systems for off highway construction equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring that our designs meet performance, reliability, safety and manufacturability standards while supporting the delivery of innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.What You’ll Do Design & Development: Create detailed designs, including 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for major vehicle/machine systems and sub-systems such as chassis, bodywork, drivetrain and attachments. Ensuring compliance with design standards and specifications. Concept Generation: Develop innovative design concepts from initial requirements through to final detailed designs. Prototyping & Testing: Support the development of prototypes, coordinate testing and evaluate performance against requirements. Design Validation: Ensure designs comply with weight, safety, cost, assembly and quality requirements through material selection, tolerance analysis, mechanical calculations and FEA. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including FEA, electrical, hydraulic, thermal and manufacturing engineers to deliver integrated product solutions. Documentation: Produce accurate technical documentation, including design specifications and assembly instructions. Continuous Improvement: Participate in design reviews, recommend process improvements, keep up to date with the latest tools, materials, techniques and industry standards. Problem-solving Abilities: Ability to analyse mechanical design challenges, evaluate alternatives and deliver practical engineering solutions.What You’ll BringTechnical Skills Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles including: statics, dynamics, materials and manufacturing processes. Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis, design for manufacture (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA). Knowledge of prototyping and testing methods. Proficient in 3D CAD software CATIA V5/3Dx Preferred Siemens NX, SolidWorks or Creo considered Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. 3DExperience/Enovia Preferred Teamcenter, Windchill considered Experience with simulation tools (FEA/CFD) is a plus.Desirable Skills Experience with additive manufacturing or rapid prototyping technologies. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Familiarity with industry-specific standards.Experience 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in a product development within the off-highway or automotive sector(s).Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related field. Applicants without a degree will also be considered if they have extensive relevant design experience.Soft Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting and presenting design concepts. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to design quality and reliability. Proactive and innovative thinker with a hands-on approach to mechanical design challenges. Able to work independently and collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams.
