Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, maintenance, and optimization of power generators and associated mechanical systems. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and efficient operation of equipment. The engineer will also contribute to troubleshooting, performance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.Job Duties And Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and improve mechanical systems with emphasis on power generators and rotating equipment. Oversee installation, commissioning, and testing of mechanical systems. Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis of generator and mechanical system failures. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports. Perform mechanical calculations, simulations, and performance analysis. Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and technicians on cross-disciplinary projects. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards. Provide technical guidance and expertise to power generation staff.Required Skills And Abilities Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and materials science. Hands-on experience with power generators, turbines, or rotating equipment. Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA or similar). Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Proven project management and leadership capabilities.Minimum Education And Experience Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field (masters degree preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering. Industry background in power generation, energy, oil and gas, or utilities highly preferred.Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move about within office and field environments. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in field or plant settings. May require travel to job sites or field locations.
