Location:Toronto, Ontario (preferred)Ottawa, OntarioAtlanta, GeorgiaFOUNDED IN 1992, NANOWAVE TECHNOLOGIES INC. is a vertically integrated designer and manufacturer of RF sensing and communications hardware.The Nanowave group has more than 6,000 communications and SAR payload assemblies in orbit and more than 30,000 RF avionics assemblies on commercial and defense aerospace platforms.Customers include many of the major space, aerospace, and defense OEMs in both the US and Europe.Advancement at Nanowave is dependent on two main factors:A person’s in-depth knowledge of their subject areaThe ability and willingness to work as a member of a diverse team of professionals to meet the company’s commitments to customersAbout the Role:We are looking for a candidate who can lead and execute mechanical projects and work in areas of advanced microwave, millimeter wave, and opto-electronic components and subsystems.Responsibilities:Product Design & DevelopmentAnalyze, design, develop, and maintain products; assist in commercialization.Contribute to design standards and support design reuse.Evaluate engineering approaches and risks to produce and iterate development plansRequirements & UsabilityAssist in identifying and organizing requirements. Apply usability procedures and principles at project or product-line level or through customer input.Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, codes, and other artifacts.Prototyping & TestingBuild prototypes, products, and systems for testing; set up and run laboratory simulations.Design testing procedures and coordinate testing. Conduct tests, document results, and develop client presentation.Innovation & Continuous ImprovementIdentify and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets.Leadership, Engineering Execution & SupportProvide overall project leadership from the proposal phase to the delivery of qualified products to the customer, including but not limited to, technical, cost, and schedule.Implement best-in-class structural and thermal design principles, processes, and tools across the organization.Support, train, mentor and coach other team members and operators in best-in-class electronic packaging, process development, manufacturing and test of electronic equipment for space, aerospace, defence, medical, and other applications.Mechanical design, component selection, and analysis activities including structural, thermal, mechanism performance.Manufacturing and testing of subsystems, assemblies and components, and investigation of problems/failures during assembly, integration, and test.Key Qualifications:Technical ExpertiseMust possess strong systems and mechanical engineering analytical and design skills.Experience in design and manufacturing for aerospace and space systems is a pre-requisite.Extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in solving mechanical engineering problems, developing requirements, performing trade studies, designing piece-parts and mechanical assemblies, and providing oversight to the fabrication, assembly, test, and qualification of specified hardware.Education & ExperienceMinimum - Masters/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical discipline with typically 4-5 years of related experience.Must be capable of leading and managing small to mid-size multi-disciplinary teams and have strong verbal and written English communication skills.All candidates must be able to obtain both CGP and ITAR clearance.Project management experience in leading the scoping, costing, and scheduling of engineering products.Proven leadership skills and the ability to direct daily activities of a medium sized team.Good communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, negotiation and organizational skills.
