Mechanical Engineer (Process Equipment and Plant Design)

Your MissionRadical Dot is hiring for a skilled Mechanical Engineer (m/w/o) who will fearlessly lead efforts on the scale up development of our breakthrough technology to recycle mixed plastic waste into key chemical building blocks moving beyond pyrolysis, gasification and other know technologies.As an early-stage start-up, we are looking for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment. You will play a critical role in the run of our upcoming demonstration plant (100-200 kg/day input plastic), contributing directly to the success of our mission to address the global plastics crisis.TasksYour RoleYou will be responsible for the mechanical design, specification, and integration of process equipment for our demonstration plant. Working closely with process engineers and EPC partners, you’ll ensure that all mechanical components meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.Your ResponsibilitiesEquipment Design & SpecificationSupport preliminary sizing of piping, reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and separators including mechanical supports for the equipment (racks, frames)Prepare mechanical datasheets and review vendor specificationsEvaluate custom-built and proprietary equipment for process compatibilityAssist in defining mechanical interfaces and layout constraintsVendor Coordination & Procurement SupportParticipate in vendor selection and technical evaluationsReview fabrication drawings and ensure compliance with specificationsSupport factory acceptance tests (FAT) and quality inspectionsTrack delivery schedules and coordinate with EPC procurement teamsConstruction & Commissioning SupportProvide technical oversight during equipment installationResolve mechanical integration issues on-siteSupport cold commissioning and mechanical performance testingDocument mechanical systems and contribute to handover packagesRequirementsYour SkillsetDegree in Mechanical Engineering or related field3+ years of experience in process plant design or equipment engineeringFamiliarity with process industries (chemical recycling, oil&gas, chemicals, pharma, energy, etc.)Understanding of pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and piping systemsExperience with CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Plant 3D)Experience with pilot projects, startups, or fast-paced, high-iteration environments is a plusDemonstrated ability to anticipate technical issues and apply creative, hands-on problem-solving in fast-paced environments.Comfortable working in a small, agile team with a proactive and flexible mindset.Fluent in English; German proficiency is a plusYour MindsetInnovative and creative, ready to find solutions for problems no one has solved before.Passionate about impact and contributing to the fight against climate change.Adaptable and flexible, to embrace the fast-paced changing environment of start-ups.Collaborative, as the world biggest problems are solved as a team.Have strong safety awareness, this is still chemistry!Personal growth mindset, ready to take more and different responsibilities with the growth of the company.🙌 Want to join the ride?Send us your CV at careers@radicaldot.com.We are an international team, so please submit your application in English.
