Job DescriptionOnsemi is looking for a Mechatronics Systems Engineer to develop innovative systems solutions for our power conversion products (e.g. SiCs, IGBTs) at our Systems Engineering development center in Piestany, Slovakia. In this role you will be responsible for engineering duties in cooling design in the field of Power electronics that pushes the limits of a wide breadth of mechatronics engineering. You will be required know and apply statics & dynamics, fluids & thermals, mechanics, etc.What you’ll do:Developing innovative cooling systems and solutions for power electronics Performing CFD analysis of internal cooling flows and the heat transfer inside of the SiC/IGBT components and modulesPerform 3-D modeling; conduct computer thermal and mechanical stress simulation (CFD, FEM)Design mechanical parts, draft mechanical drawings and prepare parts lists, maintain all design and test documentation within engineering repository systemParticipating in testing and analyzing test dataOptimization and validation of solutions that involve coolingInteracting with other departments or suppliers to collect input data for simulation and model buildingProviding suggestions and improvements after analyzing simulation and/or experimental dataParticipate in building prototypes and running thermal and mechanical stress tests, analyze experimental data to improve/optimize the design in terms of performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliabilityCollaborate with and support power electronics, PCB layout and system engineers to successfully develop and validate the design. Write technical documents, prepare presentations, and communicate the results to customersWhat we are looking for:Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or similar filed8+ years Experience in CFD analysis – flow, heat transfer, multiphaseExperience with ANSYS software (mechanical / fluid simulations)Hands-on experience with CFD/FEA simulation tools. Advanced knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid dynamicsA high level of technical knowledge and experience with cooling systems and cooling of the componentsskills in 3-D modeling and mechanical design using common CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks)Commitment to project plan and promised deliverablesGood communication and organization skillsFluent spoken and written EnglishBasic understanding of electrical design fundamentals.
