Aalok Healthcare & Hospital is looking for Medical Technologist - Home CollectionJob Description / ResponsibilityThe Medical Technologist - Home Collection is responsible for providing expert, accurate, and compassionate collection of biological specimens (primarily blood and other body fluids) from patients in their homes or other designated non-hospital locations. This role ensures the integrity and proper handling of all collected samples and maintains professional, customer-focused interaction while adhering to the highest standards of safety and quality control. This is a rotational shift-based position covering all hours of hospital operation.Key ResponsibilitiesHome Specimen Collection and Patient Care:Travel to various patient homes/locations as per the daily schedule and on-call assignments, adhering to planned routes and timelines.Perform phlebotomy (venipuncture, capillary sticks) on patients of all ages, including difficult draws, following strict aseptic and collection protocols.Collect other specimens (e.g., urine, stool, swabs) and instruct patients on self-collection procedures as required.Confirm patient identity and test orders meticulously before any collection.Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the collection process, managing any adverse reactions (e.g., fainting, dizziness) calmly and effectively.Maintain professionalism, empathy, and excellent communication with patients and their families.Specimen Handling and Logistics:Accurately label all collected specimens immediately at the patient`s location with correct patient details and collection information.Process and prepare samples (e.g., centrifugation, aliquoting, temperature control) according to laboratory requirements for immediate analysis or transport.Ensure all specimens are transported securely and timely back to the hospital laboratory under correct cold chain or ambient conditions to maintain sample integrity.Document collection details, including time, site, difficulties, and any adverse patient reactions, in the required electronic or paper records.Quality Assurance and Compliance:Adhere strictly to all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety regulations (including biohazard waste disposal), and infection control policies.Perform routine checks on home collection equipment and supplies, ensuring the phlebotomy bag/kit is fully stocked, calibrated (if applicable), and in good working order for each shift.Maintain the quality and stock of reagents and supplies within the mobile kit and report any discrepancies.Comply with all hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and legal requirements (e.g., patient confidentiality/as Health Ministry policy).Communication and Administration:Communicate effectively with the central laboratory, dispatch, nursing staff, and physicians regarding collection status, delays, difficult collections, or critical value reporting as needed.Accurately enter collection data and patient information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) via a mobile device or software if needed.Handle administrative tasks related to home collection, such as verifying insurance/payment details, and accurately tracking collections completed per shift.Shifting Duty Requirements:Be available to work on a rotational basis covering Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, and Holiday shifts as assigned by the laboratory management to ensure 24/7 service availability.Demonstrate flexibility and reliability in maintaining shift commitments and responding to on-call or emergency collection requests.Any assigned job by Management.Educational RequirementsDiplomaExperience RequirementsAt least 1 year(s)The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):HospitalAdditional RequirementsMinimum 01 - 03 years working experience in relevant field will be preferred.Basic computer skillWell communication and proper grooming to talk with patient, customer of LaboratoryTeam work mentalityShift work experienceHospital working experience preferred and know about Hospital Laboratory Business
