Some of these great benefit options are listed below:Low Healthcare Insurance Premiums401(k) with employer matchPaid Time Off (PTO)Employee discountsCompany paid life insuranceShort-Term and Long-Term DisabilityCancer InsuranceAccident InsurancePet InsuranceTuition ReimbursementOn-the-job training and skills developmentOpportunities for growth and advancementEmployee Assistance ProgramJOB LOCATION : Berrien CampusDEPARTMENT: BER - CLINICAL LAB SCHEDULE: Full Time, 7on/7off, 8-10Position SummaryResponsible for quality performance and reporting of analyses of technical procedures for the benefit of optimal patient care within the limits of laboratory policy and procedures according to FDA, JCAHO, CAP, STATE, AABB, OSHA regulations.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMeet one of the following requirements: earned a doctoral, master's or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; Have earned an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or - Have education and training equivalent to that specified by CLIA that includes -) At least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, include either -24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or 24 semester hours of science courses that include -Six semester hours of chemistry; Six semester hours of biology; and Twelve semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination; and ) Have laboratory training that includes either of the following: Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS. (This training may be included in the 60 semester hours listed above ) At least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing or, Have previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under 493.1491 on or before February 28, 1992;Must be certified with a recognized Medical Technologist certifying agency such as ASCP, AMT, HHS/HEW, AAB, or others as an MT. Persons who meet the above CLIA requirements for high complexity testing who are not certified as a Medical Technologist, will be given 1 year post hire date to obtain a certification. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient’s seen in their assigned area. Must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide the care needed by our patient groups (i.e., neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric). Normal color vision in order to discriminate and verify diagnostic laboratory stains and color dependent test.WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATIONModern hospital Laboratory. Work activities will include: light lifting (not to exceed 25 pounds), walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting and pushing objects. Must be able to operate office equipment, computer terminals and keyboards, and computerized lab equipment. Works with blood and body fluids where exposure to infections disease is a risk. Must have knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and training in handling of hazardous chemicals. Complies with biohazard/radiation safety standards and laboratory policy and procedures through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical, biological agents and/or radiation sources in the workplace.
