(Role)We are currently seeking an experienced and technically proficient MEP Coordinator to join our dynamic team. As part of McKeon Group’s commitment to sustainable construction and retrofit innovation, the MEP Coordinator will play a pivotal role in delivering high-performance building retrofit projects. This role is key to supporting the delivery of several upcoming Deep Energy Retrofit (DER) projects in the Dublin area. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the integration and performance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems—particularly HVAC, heat pumps, BMS and ventilation—within existing buildings. You will ensure all installations meet McKeon Group’s high standards of energy efficiency, compliance, and quality. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable, cutting-edge retrofit projects in a values-led, collaborative team environment.Roles & ResponsibilitiesMEP CoordinationLead the coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems with architectural and structural elementsEnsure compliance of MEP plant and equipment with design requirementsReview technical drawings and ensure integration of upgraded mechanical plant within existing building fabricManage clash detection and resolve coordination issues using BIM/Revit/Navisworks toolsMechanical Plant FocusOversee the upgrade or replacement of mechanical plants such as heat pumps, ventilation systems with heat recovery (MVHR), high-efficiency boilers, and building management systems (BMS)Ensure correct integration with thermal envelope improvements (e.g., insulation, airtightness) and renewable energy systems (e.g., solar thermal, PV)Review and approve mechanical system design proposals and technical submittalsEnergy & Compliance StandardsEnsure mechanical systems meet or exceed Part L compliance and national retrofit standards (e.g., SEAI guidelines, NZEB requirements)Coordinate with energy modelers to validate system performance projectionsSupport implementation of metering and monitoring strategies for post-occupancy evaluationContractor & Design Team LiaisonManage and coordinate MEP subcontractors and specialist mechanical installersFacilitate communication between design consultants, contractors, and McKeon Group project stakeholders and client representativesAttend and chair regular coordination and commissioning meetingsDocumentation & HandoverEnsure accurate and complete documentation: as-builts, O&M manuals, commissioning reports, warrantiesSupport training and handover to building operators for ongoing system efficiencyBenefits of joining us in the MEP Coordinator RoleMcKeon Group prides itself on its exceptional and motivated people and you will be joining a professional, warm, welcoming and enthusiastic teamPension SchemeIncome Protection and Death in Service schemeMembership of Employee Assistance ProgrammeExcellent opportunity to advance your career and progress within the GroupCompetitive salary based on experience and qualificationsSkills / Experience / Qualifications RequiredThird‐level Degree (or related qualification/trade certification) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related disciplineMinimum 5 years’ experience in MEP coordination, with at least 2 years on retrofit or refurbishment projects (ideally DER‐focused)Familiarity with SEAI’s DER grant programmes, NZEB requirements, Part L, and other Building Regulations related to energy efficiencyStrong understanding of HVAC systems, plant room layouts, heat pump technology, and energy‐efficient mechanical systemsProven experience working in occupied buildings and managing phased handovers during retrofit worksProficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination software (Navisworks or equivalent)Technically driven with a proactive, solutions‐focused mindset and a passion for sustainable outcomesExceptional communication and coordination skills—comfortable liaising with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and subcontractorsStrong attention to detail and excellent documentation practicesAbility to manage multiple project interfaces and priorities under tight schedulesDesired but Not EssentialExperience with SEAI Pathfinder, EERP, or other DER grant‐funded projectsKnowledge of low‐carbon heating solutions and emerging renewable technologies (e.g., solar thermal integration)Certification as an Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent energy performance qualificationCompetence in energy modelling tools (IES, DesignBuilder, or similar)All Candidates Should HaveA positive, service-oriented attitudeA results-driven and problem-solving approachExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracySelf-motivation, flexibility, and a team-focused mindsetWillingness to learn, upskill, and maintain industry certificationsMust be able to travel throughout the EUSalaryDepending On ExperienceLocation:Projects primarily located across the Dublin area.Reporting ToMEP DirectorMcKeon Group Core ValuesTo apply please email your CV and cover letter to careers@mckeon.ie.
