From our Cape Town headquarters, we work closely with global suppliers to bring exceptional, affordable furniture collections to homes across South Africa.The RoleJoin our merchandising team as a Merchandising Coordinator, where you'll assist with the day-to-day coordination of international furniture orders and ensure smooth operations from our Cape Town office. Working under the guidance of our Chief Merchandising Officer (CMO), you'll execute buying plans, maintain relationships with overseas suppliers and perform other tasks within the Merchandising team alongside the Merchandising assistant. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who can think critically about inventory management while ensuring accurate execution of purchasing and supply chain processes.What You'll Do Support the Chief Merchandising Officer by executing established merchandise plans and buying strategiesUse our in-house forecasting spreadsheet to calculate order quantities and timing for all suppliers based on sales dataPlace purchase orders accurately and on time based on CMO-approved buying plansMonitor stock levels and identify reorder needs based on sales data and minimum stock requirementsTrack supplier performance and delivery schedules to ensure on-time booking and shipmentMaintain day-to-day communication with overseas furniture suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, and documentationTrack all order progress from placement through delivery, updating spreadsheets and systems accordinglyUnderstand all processes, tasks and spreadsheets in the Merchandising DepartmentReview and validate all data captured by the Merchandising Administrator before submission and ensure accurate data entryMaintain and update all merchandising spreadsheetsEnsure 100% accuracy in all merchandising spreadsheets, databases, and system entriesProvide backup support for the Merchandising Administrator during busy periods or absences by knowing all processes of the Merchandising departmentPrepare product costing reports from supplier quotes to submit to the CMO for reviewAll other administrative duties as requestedWhat You'll Need Relevant tertiary degree or diploma in related fields5+ years of work experience required. Preferably in purchasing, supply chain, or inventory management (furniture/retail industry preferred)Retail experience requiredExperience with order processing, supplier coordination, and inventory control systemsTrack record of maintaining high accuracy in data-heavy administrative rolesStrong Microsoft Excel skills are non-negotiableConfidence working with numbers and identifying discrepancies in dataA combination of passion, commercial knowledge, great communication and analytical skillsAttention to detail and the ability to provide accurate workExcellent organisational and time management skillsMust be able to self-manage, prioritise workloads and meet deadlinesMust be able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and be able to multitask effectivelyProactive problem-solving ability - thinking ahead to prevent issues rather than just processing tasksProfessional level of verbal and written communication skills for dealing with multiple international suppliers via emailExperience with inventory management systems and ERP softwareBonus ExperiencePrevious logistics experience.Experience within the furniture industry or retail industry with an understanding of inventory cycles.Knowledge of import documentation and shipping processes.What's In It For YouAt Decofurn, we believe in empowering our people to think creatively and make an impact.
