Description: About The RoleThe CSSD Technician role is a highly detailed role focused on ensuring the effective sterilisation, preparation and maintenance of instruments and equipment used during surgical procedures. This is a permanent, part-time (0. 6FTE, 24 hours per week) position to be worked on a rotating roster Monday-Saturday. Although prior experience and education in sterile services is preferrable it is not essential, and all training including pursuing a certificate in sterilising technology is available on-the-job. Specific duties include:
Following applicable processes and policies to ensure medical instruments and equipment are cleaned and sterilised to eliminate the risk of infections and/or contaminationWith a high attention to detail, ensure instruments and equipment are correctly repackaged, and assigned to appropriate kitsUndertake further education to obtain a certificate in sterilising technology, if you do not already hold thisUtilise washers, autoclaves, steris machines and hydrogen peroxide low temperature sterilisation, in accordance with applicable standardsUndertake checks to ensure loan equipment kits are complete and processed in a timely manner ready for use in theatreSkills and Experiences: Skills and Experience:
Previous experience in a healthcare/theatre or sterile services setting would be advantageous, but is not essentialA high level of concentration and attention to detail, with small detailed work involving the use of microscopes forming part of this role Hold a current NZSSA qualification, or have willingness and commitment to undertake study in this field, on-the-jobA team player with strong interpersonal and communication skillsEnthusiasm and a proactive, flexible attitudeTo be eligible for employment at Mercy Hospital Dunedin, applicants will be required to provide vaccination history.
