Description: About The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to step into the role of Orthopaedic Associate Charge Nurse. This is a key position within our busy theatre environment, focused on providing daily clinical support and coordination for the orthopaedic service for Mercy Hospital’s nine theatres. This unique role offers a pivotal opportunity to drive best practice in orthopaedic care, working closely alongside consultants and clinical leaders. The position combines clinical care with support of theatre bookings, patient flow, and new orthopaedic initiatives. Specific duties include:

Providing hands-on clinical support for nursing staff caring for orthopaedic patientsCoordinate care for patients with complex needs and complications. Supporting daily theatre bookings and scheduling for orthopaedic procedures across all 9 theatres. Working with the outsourcing team to manage outsourced orthopaedic casesSupporting consultants and evaluation teams with new orthopaedic products and processesThis is a permanent, full-time (1 FTE, 40 hours per week) position to be worked Monday - FridaySkills and Experiences: Skills And ExperienceAlongside your strong leadership skills and extensive orthopaedic experience, our ideal candidate will also be an excellent communicator with proven clinical credibility within the healthcare industry.

You will also need to demonstrate the following: Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising CertificatePost- graduate qualification relevant to area of practice (eg orthopaedic nursing, perioperative nursing or advanced clinical practice) or working towards oneCurrent portfolio assessed at PDRP level 3 or higher. Advanced clinical assessment and problem-solving skills. Ability to act as a clinical resource and provide day-to-day guidance. Ability to plan and coordinate patient flow, discharge planning, and outsourcing processes. Ability to evaluate new products, provide feedback, and support product trials. Commitment to continuous improvement, quality, and patient safety.
