With the ambition to double the company’s EBITA by 2030.Advario’s M&A Strategy Following Advario’s carve-out from Oiltanking, the company has focused on divesting parts of its existing portfolio and establishing itself as an independent, future-oriented organization. This transition is now largely complete: most of the divestments have been finalized, and the focus is shifting toward strategic growth.Advario’s M&A strategy is fully geared toward the future. From its headquarters in Rotterdam, a compact and driven team is working to achieve an ambitious growth target: doubling EBITA by 2030. This means Advario is actively seeking acquisition opportunities in strategic markets worldwide, with a strong focus on sustainable infrastructure and energy storage.The coming years will focus on:Buy-side M&A: identifying, analyzing, and executing acquisitions that align with Advario’s long-term strategy.Market intelligence and strategic scenarios: building a robust target database and developing business cases for new markets.Brownfield investments: strengthening and expanding existing assets to maximize long-term value creation.ESG integration: ensuring that all investments contribute to Advario’s goal of operating net-zero by 2040. The M&A team has recently been restructured and consists of an M&A Director, an M&A Manager, and a Strategy Manager. The new Associate will work closely with them on deal execution, financial modeling, strategic analysis, and project management. The role offers plenty of room for initiative, fast learning curves, and direct impact on the company’s direction.The Position: M&A Associate (Rotterdam based) and reporting to Sr. VP Strategy and M&AIn this role, you will be at the forefront of Advario’s strategic growth journey, supporting the company’s transition from a carve-out to a forward-looking, acquisition-driven organization. You will play a key role in shaping and executing Advario’s M&A strategy, contributing to deal sourcing, financial analysis, and transaction execution. In parallel, you will support the Strategy & M&A team with project coordination and performance tracking, ensuring alignment with executive stakeholders and strategic goals.This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, international team at a pivotal moment in Advario’s development. You will gain broad exposure to high-impact initiatives, work closely with senior leadership.Responsibilities: M&A Strategy & Execution (80%)Support end-to-end M&A transaction processes, including target screening, valuation, due diligence, deal execution, and integration planning.Build and maintain financial models (DCF, comparables, merger scenarios) to evaluate potential acquisitions.Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and industry benchmarking to support strategic decision-making.Coordinate due diligence processes, analyze financial and operational data, and summarize key findings.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Legal, Finance, HR, Operations, IT) to gather and assess relevant data.Prepare executive-level presentations, investment memos, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.Track and report on deal pipeline activities and support post-merger integration efforts.GeneralContribute to the continuous improvement of M&A and PMO processes, tools, and best practices.Ensure high-quality output, attention to detail, and effective communication with stakeholders.Support the Strategy & M&A function with ad hoc tasks as needed.Ideal candidate profile:We expect candidates for the role of M&A Associate to have the following background, experience and personality:Required Qualifications & Skills 3–5 years of relevant experience in M&A, investment banking, corporate development, structured finance, or management consulting.Financial Modeling and analytical skills; experience with valuation techniques and deal structuring.Solid organizational and project coordination capabilities; PMO experience is a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.Highly motivated, curious, detail-oriented, and adaptable; thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.Personal Characteristics Strategic ThinkerAnalytical MindsetRelationship BuilderInfluential CommunicatorProactive & Hands-onResilient & AdaptableMotivation and Drive Revenue & Growth DrivenExcellence in ExecutionCollaboration & Knowledge SharingContinuous Learning & ImprovementImpactful ContributionAdvario has asked YESS I Boer & Croon to provide support in identifying and recruiting the M&A Associate.
