Senior Engineer – Pam AfricaLocation: Lagos, NigeriaReports To: Chief Operations OfficerDepartment: Engineering and ProjectsJob Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Engineer to oversee the full life cycle of solar energy projects — from design and construction (EPC) to operations and maintenance (O&M). The ideal candidate will ensure that projects are executed efficiently, meet technical standards, and deliver optimal system performance over the asset’s life.This is a leadership role requiring deep technical expertise in solar PV systems, excellent project management abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation. Key Responsibilities:• Lead the design, engineering, and technical review of solar PV systems (rooftop and ground-mounted).• Manage construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.• Work closely with contractors, consultants, procurement team and vendors to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met.• Conduct site inspections, quality control checks, and commissioning tests.• Provide engineering support for permitting and grid connection applications.• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.• Monitor system performance using monitoring portals, and diagnostic tools.• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues affecting performance or safety.• Conduct periodic inspections, site audits, and performance analyses.• Ensure timely reporting on KPIs such as availability, performance ratio, and degradation trends.• Support warranty claims and after-sales service activities.General:• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.• Drive innovation in system design, monitoring, and maintenance practices to improve project profitability and reliability.• Maintain current knowledge of solar technologies, standards, and market trends.• Prepare technical reports, project updates, and presentations for management and clients. Qualifications:• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field. (Master’s degree is a plus.)• Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in solar energy EPC and/or O&M roles.• Professional Engineering Certification is an advantage.• In-depth knowledge of solar PV system components (modules, inverters, racking systems, BOS).• Proficient with engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope).• Experience managing construction sites and subcontractors.• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.• Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Attributes:• Experience with solar systems, including hybrid systems.• Knowledge of local and international electrical codes (e.g., NEC, IEC).• Hands-on troubleshooting expertise in inverters, SCADA systems.
