You will be part of a vibrant and busy team who work together to support each other to achieve the very best. You will be joining our friendly team to provide a high quality, responsive diagnostic service. Practical knowledge of radiation protection legislation from the relevant professional bodies, understanding of all aspects of quality, health and safety requirements and data protection. A flexible and dynamic approach to working will be required.

This is a leadership role and the successful candidate will be a role model for demonstrating our Trust values through their leadership behaviours, working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and be committed to providing high quality patient care. Applicants should have substantive postgraduate experience at a senior level with evidence of dealing with complex clinical scenarios, and previous NHS experience is essential. You will possess DCR (R) or BSc degree in diagnostic Radiography with current HCPC registration and registration with the SCoR.

Main dutiesGeneralTo maintain high personal standards of general radiographyTo be instrumental in the delivery of a quality radiography service, providing clear objectives and strong team leadership. To coordinate staffing and non-pay resources to ensure effective patient flow across the general x-ray and DXA department, maintaining quality of service and value for money. Responsible for ensuring patients receive a safe, accurate and timely radiography examination. To assist the Patient Services Manager in evaluating staff training needs and skill mix requirements to meet service demands. ProfessionalTo write departmental and implement Trust wide/departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.

Maintain a professional appearance in line with the Trust dress codeUphold the Trusts values and behaviours (available on the Trust web site) and behave in a manner fitting with the responsible position of the post holder, maintaining the public confidenceMaintain professional and courteous working relationships with staff and respect the equality and diversity of each and every person he/she comes into contact with in the course of his/her businessUphold the privacy and dignity of the patient and respect the equality of patients at all timeKey RequirementsBSc Radiography or D. C. R. (R). ,HCPC.

REGISTEREDEvidence of continuous and current professional, leadership and academic development relevant to Radiology services. Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolioSignificant post graduate experience at a Senior Radiographer levelExperience of complex clinical situations. Experience of participating in clinical audit and quality assurance programmesEvidence of managing resources, staff and equipmentExperience of PACS and RISExperience of QA requirements within CR/PACS/RIS. An understanding of Clinical Governance and evidence based practiceKnowledge of radiation safety regulations and relevant protocolsEvidence of keeping informed of current techniques and practices.

Knowledge and awareness of Incident Reporting systems and their importanceKnowledge of appraisal/staff development programmesAwareness of current QA issuesEvidence of a high standard of radiography for others to follow. Evidence of leadership and of organisational skills with the ability to motivate and inspire othersAbility to work accurately and calmly and carry out concurrent activitiesAbility to act diplomatically in sensitive situations involving patients or staffGood verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsExperience of working with PACS and Radiology Information SystemsAbility to comprehend and work within the Trust’s policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety.
