Our officers and civil servants bring diverse experience and skills to the unique challenges of Defence policing.We are offering a permanent opportunity fro a AO where you will be an integral part of the Control Room, in this role you will be responsible for the Command, Control and Communications of the operation.This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.Job DescriptionThe MDP provide a 24/7-armed policing protective security operation across the USVF Group estate. The Control Room Operator role is an integral part of the Command, Control, & Communications (C3) element of this operation.To act as a frontline call handler within the Menwith Hill Control Room, ensuring all requests for police service are accurately recorded and appropriate response delivered to ensure the safety and security of members of the public and property. Responsible for recording and evaluating all incidents, information and enquiries received within the USVF Groups control room. The Menwith Hill Control Room is classed as an Annexe of our MDP national Force Control Room (FCR) which is currently located in Clyde, Scotland and so the role requires consistent communication with the Force Incident Manager (FIM) and control room operators based here. FCR will provide operational direction and advice for USVF Group Police deployments required by the Menwith Hill Control Room.Being a Police Control Room Operator for MDP at Menwith Hill is more than just answering calls, it is about obtaining and providing accurate information to ensure the right decisions are made to help and keep people and the USVF Group safe and secure.Control Room operators are often the first point of contact for members of the USVF Group community wishing to speak to the police and a regular and trusted point of contact for police officers on the ground. Our dedicated teams work shifts over a 24-hour period to answer calls, record and manage incidents and operations and deploy resources to police incidents across the USVF estate and extended patrol areas.This role is hugely rewarding where no two days are alike, and you will feel an immense sense of satisfaction helping people and supporting police officers in the fulfilment of their duties.The Control Room is a 24hr function providing an operational and information room service to MDP officers, the Defence community and external agencies and organisations such as Home Office Police Forces. This role provides a central and fundamental service to enable operational policing on USVF Group establishments, to Critical National Infrastructure sites and to deliver Ministry of Defence strategic objectives and priorities.Person specificationThe control room operator role is key to MDP operations with responsibilities including: - Monitor and operate the Force Command, Control, Communication and Crime recording systems, MDP radio network and telephony. Deployment of Police resources to incidents and coordinating support to operational officers by providing relevant system information and updating incident logs. Accurately record information onto the Force Incident recording system. Receive, evaluate and act on information relating to routine and emergency situations, monitoring and responding to Police radio messages on local and national channels. Respond to communications from the public, defence community and partner agencies (E-mail, telephony). Disseminate information and commands on behalf of the Duty Shift Commander, Shift Supervisor and/or Force Incident Manager. Create, interrogate and update police systems/records, in accordance with all relevant guidelines and procedures (Force and National) at all times. Work in conjunction with partner agencies in response to events and incidents occurring. Monitor both the local CCTV cameras, alarm panel, and drone detection system within the Menwith Hill area, deploying officer’s when necessary. Understand and implement the health and safety responsibilities of the post in compliance with the Chief Constables H&S Policy statement. Ensure the requirements of the Data Protection act are applied to all data processed and adhere to policy for the retention of data held. Maintain business administration documents and support the control room supervisor. Mentor other staff in the role as required. Responsible for assessing and self-managing risk within all aspects of the role. Work 37 hours per week (12hr Shifts) Be flexible to work Weekends and Bank HolidaysControl Room Operators work under the direct management and tasking of the duty MDP Control room Supervisor.
