The role ensures the lawful, ethical, and secure processing of personal data, while supporting business objectives and managing data privacy and protection-related risks.
TasksImplement and maintain MTN Ghana’s data privacy and protection framework in compliance with the Ghana Data Protection Act and other applicable laws. Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new systems, products, services, and third-party engagements. Develop, review, and update privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring they reflect legal and regulatory changes. Maintain a comprehensive data inventory and personal data flow map across the organisation. Monitor compliance with data protection policies through regular audits, testing, and monitoring activities. Coordinate internal investigations into privacy-related incidents, ensuring prompt resolution and reporting to authorities where necessary.
Support the development and integration of “privacy by design and default” into systems, products, and processes. Advice and input into the development and facilitation of privacy programmes. This includes ensuring delivery of initial orientation and continuous privacy training to all employees, volunteers, contractors, alliances, business associates, and other appropriate third parties. Collaborate with legal, IT, marketing, HR, and other departments to manage privacy risks and resolve compliance gaps. Advise internal stakeholders on the lawful basis for data processing, data subject rights, and data retention requirements. Track changes in privacy laws and regulatory guidance, assessing their impact on business operations.
Support the preparation of regulatory filings, audit responses, and compliance reports for senior management and regulators. Promote a strong culture of privacy and ethical data handling across all levels of the organisation.
