Job Description

Position: Health and Safety Engineer (Power Transmission Site)Required Experience: Minimum Six (6) years’ experience in HSE function. Basic Qualification: Diploma (4 years) / Degree (3 years) in technical subject. Required HSE Qualification: NEBOSH (IGC certificate), IOSH MS Certificate, IRCA Approved Lead Auditor ISO 45001: 2018, ISO 14001: 2015, ISO 9001: 2015, relevant certification and other related trainings. Shall also be knowledgeable in specific relevant safety techniques and have a working knowledge of the legal and contractual HSE requirements that must be met. They must have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

This role ensures compliance with all relevant local regulations, minimizes risks, and promotes a safe working environment for all personnel. Key Responsibilities: Site Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Perform safety audits and prepare reports. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Develop and implement risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safe work procedures specific to power transmission projects (e. g. , working at heights, electrical safety, heavy equipment operations). Safety Training: Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel on relevant safety topics, including electrical safety, fall protection, and emergency response.

Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Permit Management: Manage and control work permits, including hot work permits, confined space entry permits, and excavation permits. Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct drills. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, national, and international health and safety regulations, as well as company policies. - Ensure procedure for Contractors QHSE Requirements in the event of failure or default on part of the contractor to comply with the latest approved Contract QHSE RequirementsDocumentation:

Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and other relevant documentation. Liaison: Coordinate with site management, contractors, and regulatory authorities on safety matters. PPE Management: Ensure that all workers are using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Electrical Safety: Focus on the unique safety requirements of high voltage electrical transmission work. Conduct regular QHSE meetingsSubmit the monthly report for the contractor’s QHSE performanceSubmit the contractor performance at the end of each quarter along with cumulative data of the project for working projectsCarry out the pre-commission audit before energizing the grid station / overhead lines.

This should be done before approving the Safety Clearance Certificate (as per client System Safety Rules)Essential Skills: Knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards. Experience in conducting risk assessments and hazard analyses. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in incident investigation and reporting. Knowledge of electrical safety standards. Knowledge of construction safety standards.
