The comprehensive counselling programme at ISNS helps students with personal growth and development, personal responsibility, decision making, and interpersonal relationships related to the IB Program.Key ResponsabilitiesThe following responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assist the Secondary Principal with:Delivering classroom lessons in areas such as study skills, time management, self-esteem, goals setting, understanding diversity, careers and others.Providing support to parents and families in transitionCrisis intervention and responseFacilitating conflict resolutionCounseling students individually and/or in groupsAdvocating for the academic achievement of all studentsSupporting classroom teachers in classroom managementSupporting teachers and families in understanding and addressing difficult behaviorIndividual student academic program planningInterpreting student records, including cognitive, aptitude, and achievement testsCounseling students who are frequently tardy or absentCounseling students with disciplinary problems for follow-upAssisting the school vice-principal and principal with identifying and resolving student issues and needsAdvocating for students at IEP/student support meetingsAddressing the needs of all students through prevention and interventionRequired Skills/AbilitiesMaster’s Degree from an accredited college or university in school guidance and counseling.Understanding of the IB MYP & DP Curriculum Framework and the IB Standards & Practices.Knowledge, understanding, and experience with Secondary learning and teaching.A high degree of organizational skills with superb attention to detail.Honesty, integrity, growth-mindset, and compassion, all with a good sense of humor.Commitment to Equity: Passionate about closing the achievement gap and ensuring that every child, regardless of background or circumstance, receives an excellent education.Leadership: Coaches, mentors, and challenges others to excel despite obstacles and challenging situations.Innovative Problem-Solving: Approaches work with a sense of possibility and sees challenges as opportunities for creative problem solving; takes initiative to explore issues and find potential innovative solutions.Adaptability: Excels in constantly changing environments and adapts flexibly in shifting projects or priorities to meet the needs of a dynamic transformation effort; comfortable with ambiguity and non-routine situations.Teamwork: Increases the effectiveness of surrounding teams through collaboration, constant learning and supporting others; sensitive to diversity in all its forms; respects and is committed to learning from othersDependability: Consistently deliver with high quality under tight deadlines; successfully manages own projects through strong organization, detailed workplans, and balancing of multiple priorities.Communication and Customer Service Skills: Communicates clearly and compellingly with diverse stakeholders in both oral and written forms; anticipates and responds to customer needs in a high-quality and courteous manner.
