Position: National Events ManagerDepartment: DevelopmentOffice Location: The ideal candidate is located in Los Angeles, CA, though we are also open to candidates in other Western Region cities where we host events, including San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, and Palm Springs.Work Type Designation: Hybrid or Work from HomeThis position is Hybrid for candidates located in the Los Angeles area, and Work from Home if located in the other aforementioned cities. This role will require you to work evenings and weekends for events. If based in Los Angeles, CA, in-office presence will be expected when there is a need for event coordination and support. Work from Office and Hybrid employees must be able to commute to the Regional Office as their schedule demands.  Reports to: Director of National EventsUnion Salary Grade: D3. This is a union position.Annual Salary Range: $73,675 - 111,023. The salary for this role will be determined by a candidate's years of relevant experience related to the position, as well as their geographic region. Our salary scale starts at 1 year and goes up to 30+ years of experience.Travel: Requires regional travel up to 20%.FLSA Status:  Exempt/Full-timeSupervisory Responsibilities: Limited to managing volunteer committees, event volunteers, and event consultants, if applicable. This team member may be asked to train development interns and new development staff in Raiser’s Edge and Luminate event procedures. Considering this reality, we prioritize a proactive commitment to counteracting these biases and their compounding effects in the work we do, but also in how we work together as an organization.National Events ManagerThe National Events Manager is a key member of the National Events Team and is responsible for planning, managing, executing and assisting on a wide range of special events, from large fundraising events to mid-size cocktail receptions and select non-ticketed events. The National Events Manager serves as the events and logistics project lead for their assigned region by managing and executing event development, with key stakeholders and volunteer leadership committees. This position is responsible for managing the processing and recording of events-related donations within their portfolio by working with staff across the Development and Finance Departments. This position reports directly to the Director of National Events.What you'll do:Duties include managing all tasks required for a successful event: developing budgets and timelines; devising solicitation strategies; negotiating vendor contracts; organizing site visits; volunteer coordination; design and production of event promotional materials including invitations, and other relevant collateral; maintaining guest lists, ticketing and seating; etc. Anticipate and resolve operational challenges with speed and efficiency, keeping events on schedule and within budget. Manage a portfolio of approximately 3-4 ticketed events and support an anticipated amount of 5 non-ticketed events in their region. Work in partnership with Major Gifts Officers (MGOs), volunteer committees, volunteer leadership, and all corporate, institutional and individual sponsors of assigned events. Manage all online event materials, email correspondence for events in their assigned portfolio. Ensure backend operations for events within their portfolio are properly tracked and maintained which includes setting up and managing events in Raiser’s Edge, publishing events on the website, processing invoices and income, revenue reconciliation, tracking and cleaning up data. Complete proper data entry for portfolio events-related donations and work with the Database team to correct errors and omissions Manage email calendar for assigned events, working closely with Marketing & Digital staff to devise and design emails to publicize and promote events to large regional and national audiences Manage design and production of event collateral and promotional materials in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications teams, including sponsorship packets, print and email invitations, social media publicity, and email correspondence. Provide strong administrative management and support including executing sponsorship mailings, fulfilling event invitations, and completing check requests. Leverage data and past event learnings to continuously optimize logistics, workflows, and processes under events. Coordinates multiple vendors, venues, and stakeholders with precision, maintaining clear communication and accountability across all parties. Who you are:With the understanding that no one person will offer every desired skill and characteristic outlined below, compelling candidates will offer much of the following:Minimum competencies and qualifications:A qualified individual will have at least 2-4 years of experience managing fundraising events. Demonstrated ability to independently project manage multiple events simultaneously at different stages of the event lifecycle, taking initiative to anticipate needs, solve problems, and drive tasks forward. Experience managing stakeholders across projects and events, ensuring clear communication, alignment of goals, and successful collaboration throughout the planning and execution process Software experience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and donor software (preferably Raiser’s Edge). Ability to work independently with a remote manager, demonstrating self-direction and initiative. Effective written and oral interpersonal communication. Strong attention to detail and a high degree of organization and logistical precision in approach, management, and execution of tasks, processes, and projects. Strong customer service skills with fluency in navigating a diversity of personalities across stakeholders Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop creative, practical solutions under pressure. Preferred competencies and qualifications:Exposure to working with individual donors in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of annual gifts. Experience and familiarity with project management tools like ClickUp, Asana, Jira, Excel etc. Experience collaborating with Communications and/or Marketing teams on social media, marketing, and design collateral for events. Experience working closely with board members, key volunteers, and knowledge of LGBTQ and/or philanthropic communities.
