Overview JOBTITLE: Network Security ArchitectAGENCY SUPPORTED: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – USCIS OIT Architecture Engineering Support (AES2)LOCATION: Fully RemotePOSITION TYPE: Full-timeCLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability security clearance, which typically requires 2–4 weeks for processing and must be completed prior to the start date. The project supports USCIS’s Office of Information Technology by delivering enterprise IT architecture, engineering, and solution development services. The team partners across OIT to design, implement, and optimize leading-edge technologies—including cloud, network, Zero Trust architecture, automation, and AI/ML—using agile and DevOps practices. The work enables USCIS to modernize IT systems, enhance mission delivery, and support major enterprise initiatives such as digitization, cloud migration, and software-defined networking.

The Network Security Architect will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for designing and overseeing secure network architectures across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise network security frameworks, cloud-native networking, Zero Trust principles, and automation. The architect will guide strategy, define technical standards, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that network security solutions align with mission-critical objectives, industry best practices, and compliance requirements. Responsibilities Architect and guide the design of secure, scalable network solutions across multi-cloud and on-prem environments. Define and implement enterprise network security frameworks, policies, and standards.

Apply Zero Trust architecture principles, threat modeling, and security design patterns to enterprise solutions. Provide architectural oversight for VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and advanced cloud-native security solutions. Integrate automation and DevOps practices into enterprise networking and security operations. Serve as a senior advisor to leadership, shaping long-term security strategies and technology roadmaps. Collaborate with OIT stakeholders and senior management to ensure solutions meet mission and compliance requirements. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams, ensuring proper handoff from design to implementation. Contribute to modernization initiatives including digitization, cloud migration, Zero Trust adoption, and software-defined networking. Qualifications REQUIRED:

7–10+ years of experience in network and cloud security engineering/architecture. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field strongly preferred; Advanced degree, preferred. Proven expertise in: Network security design/architecture in multi-cloud environments Cloud security frameworks and automation Zero Trust architecture and enterprise threat modeling VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and cloud-native security solutions Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and guiding enterprise-level projects. Demonstrated ability to define security strategies that balance innovation, risk management, and compliance. Must be eligible to obtain DHS Suitability clearance. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position is fully remote.
