This role is with SpeQtral, a startup supported by SGInnovate.BackgroundSpeQtral is a Singapore-based quantum communications company that develops and deploys advanced Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology to secure critical networks against present and future cyber threats, including those posed by quantum computers. Founded with deep expertise in quantum physics and satellite engineering, SpeQtral works on terrestrial and space-based QKD systems, enabling governments, enterprises, and network operators to establish quantum-safe encryption for long-distance communications. Our mission is to accelerate the global adoption of quantum-secure networks by making trusted key distribution scalable, practical, and interoperable with existing infrastructures.Job scopeWe are seeking a proactive and experienced Network Security Engineer with a minimum of 2 years of experience to support SpeQtral’s Quantum Network programmes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructures. You will also play a key role in protecting our organization’s digital assets by identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating threats, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.As a startup, the ideal candidate would additionally also oversee internal networking, IT, AV and management of cloud services within the organisation.Key Responsbilities:Quantum Programme Support:Understand customers’ technical requirements to provide technical support for fibre QKD network deployment between sites.Assist with the installation and configuration of fibre QKD systems and supportConduct preventive maintenance and checks to QKD systemsInvestigate first line support calls assigned and identify the root cause of incidents and problems.Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity issues for projects that had been set up.Liaise with customers and principal on escalated incidentsEnsure the efficient and comprehensive resolution of incidents and requests.Provide training to end users on QKD network operationsNetwork Security Design & Implementation:Design, configure, and manage switches, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and other security toolsDevelop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect network integrity.Vulnerability Management:Perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests.Be part of the cybersecurity team to remediate identified vulnerabilities and ensure secure configurations.Documentation:Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, policies, and security procedures.Support company infrastructure:Managing company networking, IT and AV hardwarePerforming admin roles for company cloud and SaaS subscriptions.Required Qualifications:Experience:2 to 5 years in network security, IT security, or a related field. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.Education:Dip/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).Technical Skills:Sound knowledge of network security technologies including switches, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and SIEM solutions.Proficiency in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking protocols.Programming using JavaScript and working with open source platforms such as GrafanaWorking with cloud platforms, including AWS and Microsoft 365(Good to have) Working and configuring soft hypervisors such as Proxmox(Good to have) Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS) and penetration testing methodologies.(Good to have) Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards.Certifications:Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+ and/or CEH will be highly considered.Soft Skills:Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Proactive and responsive on assigned tasks and incidents follow-upTeam player and can work independently under minimum supervisionGood to have experiences:Experience with scripting/programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automating security tasks.Experience working with data visualization tools such as Grafana.Knowledge of cloud security practices and tools if your organization leverages cloud infrastructures.Prior experience in a fast-paced environment where rapid response to security incidents is critical.Willing to be on scheduled standby for field service/maintenance support.An interest in quantum communications and secure communication technologies.Interested candidates may apply directly to DTC at: https://central.sginnovate.com/hub/marketplace/openings/69ccc40f-b71e-4402-9355-c25cb4ac7ee1
