Job DescriptionThe Pacific Area Welfare and Self-Reliance (WSR) Department is seeking a capable and dedicated Regional WSR Manager to support the mission and purpose of the Department and its Humanitarian and Social Services in the Pacific Area.
This is a full-time permanent position which reports directly to the Area WSR Manager. The position is based at the Pacific Area Office in Takapuna, Auckland. The Regional WSR Manager is the single point of contact for Area, Regional, and local leaders, providing awareness, training, and support, for Church resources and services, to help local leaders minister to those in need. This role works to build capability and capacity in local leaders and to create/facilitate partnerships with community resources. ResponsibilitiesConsultation & Support:
Serve as the primary contact for Area, Regional, and local Church leaders and community partners, offering guidance on welfare and self-reliance needs, humanitarian requests, and available Church and community resources. Training & Education: Provide training to Church leaders on welfare and self-reliance programs, including digital tools and resources. Support new leaders and promote a train-the-trainer model. Leader Engagement: Help leaders identify member needs and connect them with appropriate resources. Follow up to ensure effectiveness and alignment with Church guidelines. Resource Development: Build and maintain relationships with local organizations to support employment, education, emotional well-being, humanitarian aid, and emergency response.
Share and track useful resources. Support to Area Initiatives: Support Area Presidency priorities and initiatives as needed.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred), or equivalent work experience8-10 years of professional industry experience, including 4 years in a leadership or management role, ideally in humanitarian, development, or operational settingsProven leadership, communication, and relationship-building skillsAbility to work independently and take initiativesComfortable working with senior Church, business, and government leaders and executivesSkilled in training, mentoring, and facilitating group learningStrong analytical, problem-solving, and computer skillsDeep understanding of Church welfare and self-reliance principles and ability to influence priesthood and relief society leadersProfessional presence and sound judgmentMust be temple-worthy and able to represent the Church, its principles and valuesWilling and able to travel and work in a mobile office environmentPlease note that only candidates who have legal work eligibility to hold employment in New Zealand should apply.
