Job DescriptionThe Communication and Publishing Department (CPD) is seeking a Sacred Materials Language Coordinator based at the Pacific Area Office in Takapuna, Auckland. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Area Translation Manager and will be part of a global team. The SM Language Coordinator role is responsible for supporting and developing a diverse team of external translators across multiple languages, while collaborating closely with an international group of SM Coordinators. This primary focus will be managing hymnbook projects and provide support to sacred materials initiatives within the Area, with the possibility of contributing to temple and scripture projects in the future, both within the Area and globally as needed.The role focuses on aligning internal and external resources to achieve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in the global delivery of sacred materials. It involves project management responsibilities, including the use of translation tools and technologies to coordinate tasks and timelines. Additionally, the role supports both headquarters and Area Language Supervisors in strengthening team capabilities and ensuring the successful execution of projects.Ideal candidates should be detail-oriented and adept at navigating technological tools and operational procedures.Responsibilities Communicates with language offices to determine resource availability for sacred music translation and production projects Makes location and travel arrangements for hymnbook projects and production teams in multiple areas Assists sacred materials linguists with document creation, job assignments, job tracking, and resource management Uses standard processes to ensure the timely completion of projects, including managing communication, project expectations and payment with translation team members Creates and administers surveys for sacred music projects Typically coordinates sensitive, confidential, high-profile projects Travels internationally, including to other Church Areas, to assist with project and resource needs Other duties as assigned by the Sacred Materials Coordination Team Lead or the Area Translation Manager Qualifications Bachelor's degree (preferably in business, linguistics, translation or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Plus 3 years of experience in project management or a related field. Mastery of spoken and written English and at least one other language, including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax. Broad knowledge of history, political and economic circumstances, cultural differences, and localization needs in a globalized world. Proven skills in project management, time management, interpersonal communication, coaching, problem solving and the ability to work under pressure. Ability to interact with external and internal resources in a way that ensures projects are completed in a timely manner and according to client specifications. Ability to navigate through translation and business management tools, web interfaces, reading briefs and instructions, including entering data and downloading and uploading files. Ability to provide basic technical support to translation and business management systems users. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with operating systems and Office 365 applications. Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical organization. Knowledge of word processing, graphic production and language recording best practices. Familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools. Only candidates who have legal work eligibility to hold employment in New Zealand should apply.
