Job DescriptionWGAL-TV, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in the Lancaster-Lebanon-Harrisburg-York, PA market has an opening for a dynamic full-time Newscast Director for our station’s live, fast-paced newscasts. The ideal candidate will lead the technical and operational aspects of our live newscasts and daily productions. Some prior industry or relevant military experience will be considered. This role combines the responsibilities of both Technical Direction and Studio Operations, requiring broad knowledge of broadcast production activities and strong hands-on skills with studio equipment.Job Responsibilities:Provide creative input and collaborate with producers, directors, and production crewCall and punch newscasts using Grass Valley Ignite automation with precision and accuracy Studio operations including, but not limited to, robotic camera operations, moving set pieces, lighting, and working directly with on-air talent.Operate and troubleshoot robotic cameras and related broadcast systemsUse Windows-based computer software for video playback and recording preparationAbility to maintain composure under pressure while collaborating to quickly resolve unanticipated issuesEmployee will be responsible for clean technical execution and the overall look of the newscastOther duties as assigned by the Broadcast Operations Manager Flexibility to adapt to a schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on organizational needs, special events, or unforeseen circumstances as required Maintain punctual attendance In-person attendance is required Required Skills:Must be willing to work schedules that include early morning hours, evenings, weekends, and holidaysApplicants must be reliable, punctual and have dependable transportationExcellent attention to details; strong communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentExperience with live or broadcast technical directing a plusKnowledge of or experience with production control automation systemsExperience with ENPS, VIZ RT graphics, Bitcentral video playbackKnowledge of television audio systems and robotic camera systems will be beneficialMust be able to climb ladders up to 15 feet and lift up to 25 poundsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressureRelated experience and /or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.Diversity StatementAt Hearst Television we tell stories every day.
