Ready to join a collaborative, forward-thinking preoperative team where your clinical judgement truly matters?KIMS Hospital, the largest independent hospital in Kent, is looking for an NHS Triage Nurse, to support the hospital in the management of referrals made via the NHS. We are seeking an experienced and clinically confident triage nurse. This is a non-patient facing role focused on triaging referrals from a range of sources (GP’s, hospital and community services) You will assess clinical suitability, in line with local policy ensuring patient safety is at the forefront of your decision making. You will use your clinical expertise and evidence-based judgement to review incoming referrals, interpret clinical information and determine the next steps in the patient journey.This role is a part time role working 18 hours per week. Flexible working options available.Role Responsibilities IncludeDemonstrate good clinical knowledge and practice at all times and be accountable for own actions.Triage referrals to ensure correct referral pathways have been followed and that patients are clinically suitable. (This is in line with Referral and Treatment Criteria, Directory of Services and local policy)Record clinical reason for acceptance or rejection against guidance for each referral.Attend monthly NHS review meetings to ensure contractual arrangements are being met and keep up to date with any changesLiaise with multidisciplinary teams and identify complex/ exceptional cases that require escalation or further clinical review.Work with the Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure safe patient selectionPerson SpecificationBe a registered Nurse (NMC registration essential)Have post-registration clinical experience ideally, across medical and surgical specialtiesExperience in clinical assessment, triage or referral management is preferred but not essential.Excellent analytical, communication and decision-making skillsAbility to work autonomouslyMaintain high standards of clinical documentation and data accuracyHave knowledge of clinical governance and its applicationDemonstrable knowledge of current nursing and clinical developmentsAt KIMS Hospital we understand our people are our biggest asset and as such we are focused on ensuring they feel happy and valued both in and out of the workplace.
