Site development and EarthworksConduct topographic and geotechnical analysis of the full site (Excluded)Earthworks design (grading, excavation, cut/fill balancing)Soil compaction, subgrade preparation, and erosion control measuresThe civil engineer is to analyze the reports and build the design based off compatibility of reports. (Geotech, seismic, soil makeup, etc. . )Roads, access and CirculationDesign internal access roads, service roads for farm vehicles, delivery trucks, and maintenance equipment. Design gravel, concrete, or stabilized dirt roads as appropriateAbide by civil engineering codes and standards for infrastructure and stormwater.
Drainage and Stormwater ManagementDevelop stormwater management system, surface runoff collection, and channelingDesign for Swales, culvert, drains, detention ponds, or recharge pitsPrevent waterlogging inside greenhouses and around PV equipmentDesign protection against flooding or erosion, particularly near ponds. Pond and Water Infrastructure designPlan irrigation ponds or reservoirs, embankments, and lining systems. Plan for overflow control, filtration inlets/outlets, and sluice gates if applicable. Coordinate with agricultural or irrigation engineers for sizing and water flow strategies.
Utility Infrastructure and Underground servicesCoordinate and layout underground electrical conduitsCoordinate and layout water supply and irrigation pipingCoordinate and layout drainage and wastewater pipingEnsure all trenches, ducts, and backfills meet utility and safety standards. Foundation Interface Coordination: Collaborate with structural engineers to prepare: Foundation platforms for the GH, control rooms, building housing, security area, etc. . Trenches and concrete pads for the electrical platform area, battery bank, transformers, inverters, switchboards, deck loading/unloading, etc…Ensure foundation excavation, backfill, and compacted subgrades meet load requirements. Regulatory and Environmental Compliance: Collaborate with local civil engineers to comply with:
Local land use and agricultural zoning lawsEnvironmental and water conservation regulationsCivil engineering codes and standards for infrastructure and stormwater. What You'll Need: Degree in Civil Engineering, PE license is a plus. Experience in site development, water infrastructure. Experience in renewable energy is a plus. Familiarity with agri-enegry infrastructure and environmental permitting. Strong interdisciplinary coordination and reporting skills
