Employment Type: Temporary Full TimeRemuneration: -Hours Per Week: 38Requisition ID: CAM25360What You'll Be DoingThe primary purpose of the position is to manage patients requiring intensive care and those at risk of clinical deterioration requiring intensive care, plus undertaking pre- and post-intensive care evaluation. Critically ill patients include patients with life-threatening single and multiple organ system failure, those at risk of clinical deterioration as well as those requiring resuscitation and/or management in an intensive care unit.
Intensive Care Trainees work under the supervision of Specialist Intensive Care Physicians, assisting to manage, diagnose and treat the disturbances associated with severe medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric illness and the conditions that cause them. This may include management of deteriorating and seriously ill patients outside the intensive care unit as well as the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients. The Port Macquarie Base Hospital Intensive Care Unit is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine for training. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
Completion of at least two postgraduate years working as a medical officer with demonstrated competence. Demonstrated commitment to rural and regional health with an understanding of the health requirements of these communitiesDemonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills (at the level of competency), judgment and expertise. Demonstrates teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills. A professional attitude and flexibility in work role with a preparedness and ability to participate in afterhours overtime and on-call rosters.
