Employment Type: Temporary VariousRemuneration: -Hours Per Week: 38Requisition ID: CAM26628We are an accredited unit with CICM and ACEMExcellent supervision by a team of Intensive Care SpecialistsExcellent array of intensive care medicine with abundant procedural experience. Where you'll be workingWith 348 treatment spaces, we are the major Rural Referral Hospital to the North West of NSW. We conduct over 9000 surgical procedures per annum over 5 theatre spaces; with the new facility boasting an additional 3 theatre rooms which have been built for future growth.

ICU is a 12-bed unit including a four-bed HDU and admits approximately 950 patients a year of which 30% are ventilated. Both ED and ICU receive patients from rural sites retrieved by the local Westpac Helicopter Retrieval Service which has a base in Tamworth. The department is led by a group of dynamic FCICMs who promote an active, stimulating, and supportive work environment. Applicants will be competent in core ICU resuscitative skills such as Intubation, intercostal catheter placement, and central venous cannulation. Along with the consultant they will provide support to ICU SRMOs.

We are a hub for the AMC approved WBA program and our current waitlist for placement is less than 12 months. What You'll Be DoingThe primary purpose of the position is to manage patients requiring intensive care, those at risk of clinical deterioration requiring intensive care, plus pre- and post-intensive care evaluation, as directed and overseen by supervising consultants; while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment.

Critically ill patients include patients with life-threatening single and multiple organ system failure, those at risk of clinical deterioration as well as those requiring resuscitation and/or management in an intensive care unit. Trainees in the Intensive Care Department work under supervision, assisting to manage, diagnose and treat the disturbances associated with severe medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric illness and the conditions that cause them. This may include management of deteriorating and seriously ill patients outside the intensive care unit as well as the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients.

Qualifications -Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role. At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services. Adept ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise. Adept verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.

Adept ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment. Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of intensive care medicine.
