Occupational Therapist

General Purpose:Under indirect supervision, provides rehabilitative and developmental therapyand support services for residents. Directs resident participation in selectedtasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance; facilitates the learning ofskills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, diminish or correctpathology, and promote and maintain health.Essential Job FunctionsThis facility expects their associates to promote an atmosphere of teamwork withother associates and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, thefollowing list of duties is not all-inclusive:Tests and evaluates residents for therapy and support needs; assessesavailability of in-clinic or on-site facilities, equipment, and/or services.Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs designedto help residents regain physical or mental functioning or to adjust to theirdisabilities.Treats, educates, and counsels residents and families as appropriateregarding specific physical, mental, and/or developmental disabilities.Monitors resident progress throughout treatment; prepares and maintainsrecords and reports as appropriate, ensuring adherence to proceduralsafeguards and confidentiality requirements.Participates in training medical and nursing personnel in occupationaltherapy techniques and objectives.Conduct and document a thorough functional assessment of the resident,utilizing standardized procedures. Assessment of home/vocational andequipment needs.Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse. Supervise COTA(s) per state guidelines. Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy Current license in state of practice. Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identifiedareas of specialization.Organized and detailed in work performance. Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience. Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursingfacility.
