About The RoleWe are looking for a forward thinking, commercially savvy Senior Category Manager to lead and deliver strategic sourcing initiatives that drive value, performance, and innovation. This role will oversee a complex portfolio of categories and lead cross-functional collaboration to deliver measurable outcomes across the business.
Reporting to the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, you will be joining an established team with a commitment to continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and supplier performance and you will get the opportunity to play a key part in shaping the procurement strategy into the future. This role is based at our Mount Maunganui office and involves regular travel to our Mills.
Role Responsibilities IncludeLead and coach the Category Management team to build capability and drive performanceDevelop and implement sourcing strategies that deliver measurable commercial outcomesManage strategic supplier relationships and lead complex contract negotiationsEnsure alignment with business needs through strong internal stakeholder engagementDrive cost reduction, risk mitigation, and contract compliance across all categoriesEmbed governance, reporting discipline, and best-practice procurement processesChampion continuous improvement and lead the Supplier Relationship Management programmeRepresent Strategic Procurement in cross-functional leadership forums and initiativesAbout YouYou’ll have a relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience in procurement, category management, and strategic sourcing, ideally within manufacturing or heavy industry (but not essential).
With a strong track record of leading high-performing teams, you combine analytical thinking with commercial insight to identify opportunities and drive results. You bring advanced skills in contract negotiation, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement, along with solid experience using procurement systems. Confident and collaborative, you’re able to influence at all levels and lead change in a complex environment.
